What is butter harmful? What can I replace it with?
Butter is a milk fat obtained by whipping cream. As a rule, it is made from cow’s milk, and it is a product with a high calorie content – 717 kcal per 100 grams. It contains vitamins, proteins and saturated fats, which is very important for health. The substances in the composition of butter slow down aging, and it is also considered an excellent source of antioxidants. Another important feature of butter is vitamin D, which we especially lack in the winter season. It is very important for maintaining immunity, as well as for the body’s absorption of calcium.
But there is another side of the coin – dangerous substances. Butter contains cholesterol and trans fats, the excess of which can cause problems with the gallbladder and provoke the development of atherosclerosis. And when frying with such oil, carcinogens are formed, which can cause the development of cancer.
It is not recommended to use butter for people with heart and vascular problems, overweight and pancreatitis.
What are the alternatives to butter? Let’s consider the most popular ones.
Another good thing about ghee is that it maintains healthy insulin levels and reduces the risk of diabetes. Vitamins A and E contribute to glowing skin and an even complexion. An important factor is that ghee does not form carcinogens when fried.
