Where can you fly with Sputnik? List of open countries for Russians

“Sputnik V” is one of the most popular vaccines against coronavirus in the world. Yet the geography of travel for tourists with a Russian vaccination certificate is still very limited. The question on the agenda is: where can a vaccinated traveler go now?

Not all of the listed countries are currently resumed direct air communication and allowed entry for tourist purposes.

Which countries are open for Sputnik V?

Alas, even vaccination does not eliminate the requirement for PCR testing – at least in some regions. It is good to know that there are quite a few countries that are more loyal to Russian tourists. The following countries are ready to accept travelers vaccinated with Sputnik V vaccine:

Without PCR: Abkhazia, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Georgia, Hungary, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Moldova, Mongolia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan.

With PCR: Azerbaijan, Barbados, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Chile, Djibouti, Greece, India, Iran, Kenya, Mauritius, Portugal’s autonomous region of Madeira, Maldives, Oman, Qatar, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Thailand (Phuket Island), UAE, Venezuela, Zimbabwe. On November 15, Israel will open its doors for vaccinated tourists with PCR-test.

Entry conditions

And although the borders are opening, the restrictions are not becoming less. At the same time, quarantine measures in each country are different. Some may require a certificate of a negative test for COVID-19 and additional documents, others – stay in quarantine on arrival or on return, others will be enough certificate of vaccination.

Julia: Among the above-mentioned countries, there are those that, despite the recognition of the Sputnik V vaccine, require temporary isolation in addition to the mandatory PCR test upon arrival. For example, until the results of a repeat test, which is usually conducted 5-7 days after the first test. These requirements are imposed by countries such as India and Thailand. On the other hand, there are countries that accept all citizens, including unvaccinated, in the presence of a negative PCR test (e.g., Cuba, Dominican Republic, Seychelles, Tanzania, Turkey).

Some countries even selectively test arriving passengers. Greece, for example, offers to try “luck”. Fans of ancient Greek culture with a positive result will be quarantined. But the vaccinated are released from self-isolation. At the same time, entry into the country is allowed only after two weeks after the second dose of vaccine. There is good news: a certificate of vaccination will be sufficient in Russian. What about other countries?

Egypt will require a negative PCR test for COVID-19, made not earlier than 72 hours before the trip. There is another way to enter the country – to present a certificate of vaccination “Sputnik V” + QR code and travel insurance covering treatment against coronavirus. The vaccination must be completed at least 14 days before departure.

Sunny Cyprus requires a pro-visa, which is issued to Russians for a single entry to the territory of the island for a period of 90 days. It can be issued on the Cyprus Flight Pass portal not later than 24 hours before departure.

This pro-visa is suitable only for direct flights. If there are connections, you need to apply for a visa on the website of the Cypriot Embassy in Russia. It is possible to get to Cyprus on a Schengen visa with a negative PCR-test in hand, made not earlier than 72 hours before departure.

But those flying to the UAE do not need a visa – it is provided free of charge upon arrival and is valid for 90 days from the moment of entry. It is also necessary to provide a negative PCR test – digital analogs are not accepted.

Entry rules and the list of open countries are regularly updated, so be sure to double-check the information before buying tickets.
