Which famous athletes wear pink and why this color has become so popular

Pink is one of the most popular colors in the world of fashion, and not only high fashion. And its popularity is not slowing down. Proof of this, for example, is Valentino’s spring show at Paris Fashion Week, which was almost entirely in pink. Pink has long ceased to be exclusively “women’s” color, famous fashion houses release entire collections, and soccer clubs make uniforms in pink shades.

Soccer in pink colors

“Juventus” played in pink uniforms for two years – in the 2015/2016 and 2020/2021 seasons. The Scottish national team, not wanting to stray from the trend, also played in pink uniforms in 2019. The Spanish grandees, Real Madrid and Barcelona, also had pink kits.

The Madrid players wore pink kits for the first time in 2018, then the uniforms came out very bright. The second time turned out not so provocative: in the season-2020/2021 the uniform was made in softer colors. Catalans, on the other hand, played in the trending color in the 2018/2019 and 2020/2021 seasons. And that’s not all.

Manchester United’s players also had a pink kit in 2018, while Italy’s Palermo had pink as part of the club’s official symbols. And this year, Italian Serie C side Bari have teamed up with fashion brand LC23 to create a designer pink kit with an octopus tentacle pattern. It turned out to be quite original, we must say.

Earlier we have already told about other stylish novelties in the world of soccer.

“Fans” of pink

Perhaps the first who tried to introduce the trend for pink things in the soccer community was Nicklas “Lord” Bendtner. It happened in 2008: Bendtner played for Arsenal in London and wore pink boots in a match against Dynamo Kyiv. Back then, few people appreciated the gesture, the pink boots were even criticized, but that was just the beginning.

Now pink in sports uniforms is far from rare. Many soccer players, among whom, for example, Neymar, have already managed to play in pink boots. And Kylian Mbappe has teamed up with Nike to release his own pink pair in a new design.

Hector Bellerin

Bellerin, who plays for Spanish Betis, has always been distinguished by his ability to dress stylishly. The Spaniard was even voted the most fashionable footballer of the year by Highsnobiety in 2018. Since then, not much has changed. The athlete even managed to dislodge David Beckham from the fashion pedestal – read more about it in our previous material.

In public, Hector always shines, dressed with a needle – and he also respects the pink color. Proof of this is his appearance at the Louis Vuitton fashion show in a pink look: the footballer was wearing shorts and a crocodile hoodie of this color.

Jack Grealish

Grealish, like Bellerin, is probably one of the most fashionable footballers of our time. Among other things in favor of this is the recently signed contract with the fashion house Gucci. Now Grealish is an ambassador of the Italian brand. In the closet of the Manchester City winger a lot of pink things, among them hoodies, sweatshirts and not only.

Especially stands out a zippered sweatshirt from Palm Angels, in which Grealish appeared in public, while still being a player of “Aston Villa”. And this spring, photographers captured Jack on the street in a pink tracksuit.

Neymar

The Brazilian footballer is famous for his extravagant style, and pink is an integral part of it. Neymar has repeatedly appeared on the field in pink boots, in everyday life he wears pink T-shirts, shorts, jackets, sneakers. In one of the photos on social networks, the athlete poses in a pink coat and pink pants. In general, he is definitely impressed with this color.

What can we say, in 2020 Neymar even dyed his hair pink.
