What drives people towards their goals? Some believe that inspiration is the force that leads to the desired results. Others believe that progress is only possible if there is decent motivation. How does it really work?

We are all different. And we differ not only in our desires and aspirations. The ways of achieving results are also individual. Even if the goal of two people is similar (for example, to achieve some heights in sports, career), everyone will pave the way to the desired “point B” in his own way.

It may seem that some people do not do anything special. They are so enthusiastic and interested that the realization of dreams becomes an organic process, practically not causing difficulties. However, in most cases, this is just an appearance. Behind the apparent ease is a serious work on themselves. It is connected, among other things, with the choice of a suitable activity (sport) and proper goal setting.

Others also effectively solve the tasks set before them, but they themselves admit that this process is much easier for them if they are motivated from outside. For example, they know that they will receive a bonus, a valuable prize or some other material bonus.

Who needs motivation?

It may seem strange that people are not willing to do the work without additional “pluses”. This is often the case with those who do not get a high from their activity, who chose it solely (or mainly) because of money.

If you promise a bonus, they will really start trying. But, most likely, they will move within the framework of a predetermined route, without wasting time on new or non-standard solutions.

However, there are always those who work equally well regardless of whether the bosses plan to pay the 13th salary at the end of the year. Usually these are people who are interested in the work itself. They themselves want to develop in it, taking on the most ambitious projects. Usually the growth and increase in salary in this case occur as if automatically.

This is possible if a person has chosen a field of activity, focusing precisely on his interests. He does not need stimuli from the outside, but motivates himself. We can say that he is guided by inspiration, among other things.

How to be inspired?

Why are some employees of the company enthusiastic and inspired, while others do everything, if not from under the stick, then completely without enthusiasm? There could be several reasons.

For example, as mentioned above, not all people working in the same place are really doing what they love to do. How should they act to get out of this routine? Try to develop, get new skills and go to another level. Perhaps it will be more interesting there.

Another option is to change jobs. And it is not so much a matter of moving from one company with a certain profile to another similar one, but rather a radical change. It is realistic to master a new occupation at any age, and it may turn out that this is what you lacked.

Often our own blinders prevent us from deciding to make such changes. We “hold on” to higher education or are afraid of what others will say about the changes, and therefore we are afraid to leave, for example, from lawyers to browbeaters, from salesmen to tutors, etc.

Another thing that prevents us from finding inspiration is fatigue. It is about the lack of resource, energy, strength. Often a person who used to be quite successful in his activities, for some reason burns out, and therefore ceases to cope with even the basic load.

It is very important to replenish the resource. Here you need to find a way that suits you. For some – physical activity, for others – a trip to a museum or a meeting with friends.

Don’t forget to make time for yourself. This will help you get the inspiration and energy you need to move forward and make important decisions.
