Worth revisiting: the top 5 best celebrity performances at the Super Bowl

Michael Jackson

Who performed at the Super Bowl finals and why was this year’s performance a flop against their backdrop?

Maroon 5’s recent 15-minute performance at the Super Bowl has sparked talk of the worst number in the history of the finals. Social media and the press called the show “mediocre and formulaic.” We, thinking that they have something to compare with, did not argue. However, we were not lazy to check – we reviewed and selected the best performances in the history of the Cup.

Michael Jackson (1993)

Michael Jackson is unanimously considered to be the founding father of the standard format of halftime performance. The singer was the first to turn the show into a medley of his hits and prepared separate dance numbers that flowed seamlessly into each other. In addition, his performance attracted a record for those times TV audience of 1.5 billion people.

Britney Spears (2001)

And to be precise, she wasn’t the only one. The singer performed in the company of Aerosmith, *NSYNC and Mary J. Blige. Agree, a good vinaigrette of the main representatives of rock, hip-hop and pop music.

Prince (2007)

When Prince himself took the stage, the stadium turned into a clear sparkling sky. The purple colors and blue suit with orange shirt did their job in attracting the right amount of attention.

Madonna (2012)

For her Super Bowl headlining performance, the singer chose impressive Givenchy outfits, prepared acrobatic stunts and, naturally, major hits. She performed one of her new (at the time) songs together with rappers Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

Beyoncé (2013 and 2016)

Beyoncé was lucky enough to perform on the show twice. In 2013, she was remembered by the audience for her incredibly elaborate and worked-out performance, which looked like a 3D music video. Her outfit also attracted attention: the star came on stage in a transformer bodysuit, from which she gradually undid parts until only lace was left on her.

At the anniversary show Beyonce sang with Chris Martin, vocalist of British band Coldplay, and Bruno Mars. And, by the way, she danced to the fullest again.
