Motivating movies for the whole family that will inspire you to accomplish things in the new year

In December, many people have already summarized the previous year and are now starting to think about plans for the coming months. If in 2022 you want to learn to listen to yourself, dream of traveling alone and are thinking of starting a new business, you can find motivation in the movies from our selection. We tell you more about the plots of the movies and wish you a pleasant viewing.

“Female Combat”, 2000

The movie directed by Karin Kusama is about a girl from Brooklyn, who often can not cope with anger. Find inner balance heroine helps boxing, and this is a great motivation for everyone who in the new year wants to establish a relationship with sports. In the ring, the heroine finds control and calm.

This is a good example of how physical exercise changes us not only externally, but also internally, helping us to find harmony with ourselves and begin to control our emotions. Especially for filming, actress Michelle Rodriguez trained in martial arts, so the movie is worth watching also to appreciate the extremely convincing and sometimes brutal fight scenes.

“Wild,” 2014.

In “Wild,” Reese Witherspoon plays Cheryl Strayed, a woman who sets out alone to hike the 1,100-mile Pacific Crest Trail. She passes through California, Oregon and Washington, trekking through deserts, mountains, forests and rivers.

Director Jean-Marc Vallee shows flashbacks from her life that prompted Strayed to take such a courageous step: her mother’s untimely death, her heroin addiction as a consequence of her grief, and her broken marriage to a good man. All the time Strayed spends alone in the wilderness, often overcoming serious challenges, becomes a period of purification and transformation for her.

“The Man Who Changed Everything”

The film directed by Bennett Miller told the viewer the real story of baseball manager Billy Beane, who approached the formation of the team not from the point of view of the stars of the players, but from the analysis of their strengths and weaknesses.

In the movie, the Oakland Athletics had a phenomenal performance with no big-name players on the roster and with meager funding. After losing three key players before the season started, general manager Billy Beane was forced to change his strategy, allowing the Oakland Athletics to win 20 straight games for the first time in league history.

“The Queen from Katwe”.

The movie “Queen from Katwe” is the true story of how a girl with no education from an African slum became a legend in the chess world. Fiona Mutezi was born into a large family in Katwe, a poor neighborhood in the Ugandan capital, where crime, drug addiction and prostitution are rampant, and where eating once a day is not just the norm, but a great fortune.

Fiona Mutezi was about nine years old when a local missionary offered her a chess lesson in exchange for a bowl of porridge. And from that day on, Fiona began to walk six and a half kilometers every day from her home to the church where she was taught chess. Quite quickly the girl’s potential was recognized: she could calculate the game eight moves ahead. Less than a year later, Fiona won the national junior tournament and was recognized as the best among boys.

Being from Africa means being an outsider in the world. To be from Uganda is to be an outsider in Africa. Being from Katwe means being an outsider in Uganda and being a girl means being an outsider in Katwe.

Fiona Mutezi

To participate in the Chess Olympiad, Fiona had to travel to Khanty-Mansiysk, where she found herself the only player who had never attended school. This story is not so much about winning as it is about strong people, overcoming the difficulties in life, the poverty of African neighborhoods, the desire for change, and everyone’s moral choices.

“Willpower,” 2016

The story of Olympic champion Jesse Owens has inspired more than one generation of athletes. The movie tells the story of an African-American man originally from Ohio trying to make it to the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936.

This historical period was not an easy one at all, as athletes with African roots from the U.S. were still discriminated against. Despite widespread resentment, Owens travels to Nazi Germany to return with gold and set new records.

The film reveals the problem of infringement of the rights of “colored” people and urges not to be afraid of difficulties and to achieve their desires and aspirations by any honest means, because victory is always on the side of truth.
