Fitness blogger Alexey Stolyarov tested the new Rambler Group gymnasium

In the last few years, a trend has emerged in Russian cities – the placement of fitness rooms on the premises of the offices of large companies. You have probably heard how employees of Google or, for example, Facebook, work out in the States without leaving work. Recently, employees of Rambler Group have also joined them.

The concept of the hall was thought up and implemented by the “League of Heroes”, which is known for organizing “Hero Races” and other obstacle races. Everything here is unique: from the visuals inspired by the “polygon”, a basic element of 3D graphics, to the crossfit zone, designed with the needs of employees in mind.

A popular fitness blogger Alexey Stolyarov came to evaluate the new 160-square-meter gym. He told “Championship” what fitness equipment will be especially useful and interesting for office employees, and gave some personal tips for effective training.

– How often do you usually visit the gym?

– Well, when it comes to filming, probably 14-15 times a week. Today is the fourth time. My own workouts I have four times a week, since I’m not preparing for “League of Heroes” or “Arena of Heroes” right now. My workouts aren’t as intense. It’s mostly strength training, there’s hardly any cardio.

– What do you usually do on strength training?

– I like to train my shoulders the most, because in these places you can see the result really cool. For men, I think it’s one of the most interesting and visually appealing stories.
My least favorite is leg day. Everyone has it, except probably the girls.

By the way, this gym has the exercise equipment that I don’t have in my arsenal. Atypical, unfamiliar, because of this I get a lot of interest and excitement. I like to do what I can’t do. I like that I have weaknesses in this direction. That’s why gyms like this, they’re probably the most interesting. When you come here, you’re always very energized. That is, you can’t come here sleepy or without mood, then you will definitely fail.

– And if you suddenly realized that you lost your form and now you need to get it back quickly, what would you do first?

– I did. I am a sports blogger, I have 2 million subscribers on YouTube. Immediately they started writing in the comments that I’m fat and that I’m not quite where I’m going. I totally understand why that happened. It’s not from the fact that I’m working out day and night. There’s a lot of filming, TV projects, traveling, flying. It all takes its toll. And laziness, first of all. And, of course, then you just look at your schedule and start training at seven in the morning, at eight or in the evening.

– So you increase the number of workouts?

– There’s no such thing as me training seven or eight times a week because I need to get back in shape. It’s just a matter of remembering what I’m doing. It doesn’t take anything supernatural to stay in shape. My subscribers ask me very often how much I should work out. I say two or three times a week and it will be great. The thing is that many people don’t do it, or they train for a month or two and that’s it, and then they give up. If you really train, you will be in great shape.

– Are you watching your diet?

– Oh, I have problems with nutrition now because of the fact that our videos have become interesting: we started to lose weight on fast food and all sorts of experiments. In fact, it’s difficult to eat right in Moscow. This is really true, but thank God, now there is a proper food delivery service. Everything moves in a completely different way here. What you can snatch, you can get. If it’s breakfast, of course, I have that right nutrition. I’m not eating anything super unhealthy. Dinner is always no carbs. In general, I don’t like to eat fast food all the time, but sometimes I allow it. The main thing is to spend the calories you consume.

Actually keeping yourself in shape is the easiest thing to do if you’re really energized about it. It’s like getting a girl you like. If you like her, you’re going to pursue her no matter what, right? It’s the same thing here. And no one will say to you, “Aren’t you spending too much effort? You’ll spend as much as you need to. The main thing is the charge, the main thing is the goal.

– And if, on the contrary, you realize that now you have overloaded yourself and need to rest, do you postpone training altogether or start light restorative training?

– Sometimes, I overwork myself. But I hardly cancel training, for example, with my coach Kirill Sarychev. It is very difficult for him to say that you overtrained. This is a man who was the world record holder in the bench press for five years. He doesn’t understand what it means that you can’t or you can’t. You work: you either walk or you don’t. We’re not an Olympic team to overwork ourselves. Of course, from a psychological point of view, there are problems. You need to give yourself an offload, but you shouldn’t justify it a lot.

– What do you think about the trend that is now observed in large companies to build fitness rooms for their employees?

– It’s a cool thing. I have seen this in many companies, but I have not yet met such a cool gym. There is no analog not only in Moscow, in Russia. I would like to film here, to train here.

Large companies should have such facilities everywhere. I don’t want to rely on the West and say, “over there”, but in America, people very often train like this. I remember being at Google, at Facebook. These are huge companies, our Russian alternative is Rambler. But I repeat, there are no such halls there. Everything is much simpler. This one is really good. It’s not flattery of any kind, not to try to please, but just really cool. “The Rambler is insanely lucky. The employees. I hope they’re all practicing and getting high.

– What’s the most exciting thing for you here?

– The handlebars, of course. They look beautiful. If something doesn’t work out, you immediately want to repeat and correct it. I like that the gym is not overloaded with lever trainers, usually they are very piled up and create a little pressure. As someone who has worked as a personal fitness trainer for eight years, I know that this affects, the queue forms. And here every person can find a place: both phytonians and overweight guys.

– Where would you advise those who have never done it to start training?

– I would immediately turn to a personal trainer. You should tell him about your experience – he will advise you. I remember myself at my first training sessions – we had a grandfather in the gym who said: “Hey, boys, I’ll show you everything.” And it’s normal, there’s no need to be shy. It’s the same thing if I go up to the office to do some program. I’m not going to fiddle around, I’m not going to press any buttons. Naturally, I’ll ask the knowledgeable guys. And that’s the way it is everywhere.

– Do you think it is better for office workers to train before work, after work or during lunch break?

– I can’t answer that for sure. I myself love working out in the morning because I’m usually not in the mood in the evening. It all depends on your schedule, but as my practice and my life experience tells me, morning is the perfect time to workout because you get up early in the morning, energize yourself, do the work and go, Vasya.

– Will you share two or three exercises for those who lead a sedentary lifestyle?

– It’s elementary in general. Stand in a plank from 30 seconds to a minute with an interval of 3 times.

Between these circles, do 3 approaches of squats for 30 times.

And if it’s a girl, push-ups from the knees, and if it’s a boy, bench presses. 3 for 10 or 3 for 15. Depends on your physical capabilities.

These are all the exercises. It involves the arms, legs, bark muscles. Three exercises – three whales that can be done by an office worker. And be well, handsome.
