Effective telecommuting. How to work from home

Many companies have started to switch to remote working due to the spread of coronavirus infection. Employees who are used to always completing tasks in the office find it difficult to readjust their workflow to the new wave. After all, there are a lot of distractions at home, no one regulates the schedule and does not control your actions. Let’s tell you about the simple flyhacks that will make working at home more productive.

Set working hours

Clearly separate the time of work and rest, so that you do not do household chores during working hours and vice versa. Decide for yourself when it is easier for you to complete tasks from your employers – in the morning or in the evening – and stick to that pattern.

Fight distractions

Yes, it can be harder to get started at home. After all, no one will see that instead of reporting, you’re watching YouTube videos or writing comments under our articles. If you feel that some external factor is clearly interfering with your productivity, then gather your strength and give it up for a while. For example, turn off the TV. You shouldn’t think that if it’s running in the background, it doesn’t derail your thoughts. Don’t go on social media because it’s the surest way to waste time.

Take time for lunch

During your home work day, take time for an afternoon meal. It’s a good excuse to rest, switch gears and get on with tasks with renewed vigor. Plus, a full lunch will cut down on trips to the fridge and minimize uncontrolled snacking. As they say, war is war, but lunch is on a schedule.

Get some privacy

Explain to your household that you don’t need to be disturbed during business hours. Arrange with your spouse or children to talk over lunch or hang out after work hours. Moreover, relatives can help you with the situation. Ask them to supervise you during the work process and remind you of important tasks. If you get distracted, the in-laws can send you back to the home office.

Don’t work in your pajamas

Don’t let yourself sit in your pajamas on the bed, because it doesn’t set you up for work at all. Of course, you don’t have to wear a business suit, but you can wear normal, comfortable clothes. It will increase self-discipline.

Scientists at the University of Hertfordshire believe that clothing has a symbolic meaning for a person. The brain adjusts to the purpose of the clothes you wear, so a person behaves according to it.
