How to slow down skin aging? Useful habits will help you stay young

Who hasn’t at least once dreamed of reversing the aging process, keeping youth and beauty? We are sure that almost everyone has. Skin is one of the main indicators of aging, so experts strongly recommend paying special attention to its condition. But whatever we do, it is still impossible to stop the change of cells. But to slow down this process and slightly prolong youth is quite realistic.

What does aging depend on?

Each person has a chronological age and biological age. It is far from the same! If the first reflects the time you have actually lived, the second is an indicator of well-being, healthy appearance and energy. Nutritionist, nutritionist and clinical psychologist Anna Berseneva believes that we are able to correct biological age.

Anna: In many ways, of course, the aging process depends on genetics, but even more depends on us. Aging is influenced by such factors as nutrition, lifestyle, stress, ecology and others. Many of these we can change for the better! Chronological age does not take into account all of these external factors. While it reflects the passage of time, biological age reflects what is going on inside. It is the best indicator of overall health. Biological age is how our tissues, organs, and systems age and how much of their condition corresponds to chronological age. Biological and chronological age can differ significantly from each other, and these differences can be expressed in more than one decade, both up and down.

The condition of our skin also depends on our biological age. We tell you about the rules and habits that will help to prolong its youth.

Change your lifestyle

Smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, broken daily regimen – all this has a huge impact not only on the general health, but also on the condition of the skin. Nicotine dehydrates it, in a smoker it becomes dry and irritable. Alcoholic beverages do the same: they cause the skin to lose a lot of fluid, and constant sleep deprivation can affect its tone and pore size. Therefore, the first and most important rule is to radically change your lifestyle, namely to give up all bad habits. This includes overeating. Also, you should not eat right before going to bed.

If you are not accustomed to daily exercise, it is worth starting to do it. Sports favorably affects the condition of the skin. During physical activity, it becomes more elastic, so fine wrinkles are smoothed out. Of course, you should not overdo it, as overload can cause stress.

Drink more fluids

We often hear the opinion: to lose weight and improve the condition of the body, you need to drink more water. This is certainly true. It’s also one of the most effective ways to moisturize your skin. Doctors recommend drinking up to two liters of water a day. If you are not allergic to citrus fruits, you can add a little lemon juice to it.

Still, the nutritionist warns that it is not necessary to abuse liquid. Each person has an individual drinking regimen. Drink as much water as your body requires.

Anna: Drinking too much water also has negative consequences. First of all, a large amount of water is very stressful for the kidneys, causing them to fail to cope with filtration. This situation often occurs in athletes who drink a lot of water during and after training, the consequence of which can be hypotonic hyperhydration. The consequence – the concentration of sodium drops, complications arise in the cardiovascular and muscular systems. Thus, it is absolutely necessary not to pour liters of water into yourself at a time. It is better to drink calmly, gradually. As, in fact, and eat.

Moisturize the skin with cream every day

We talked about moisturizing the skin from the inside. Now let’s understand what cosmetic products will help in moisturizing from the outside. In the first place are, of course, creams. For each type of skin they are different, so their correct choice should be approached with special attention. If the means will be selected incorrectly (for example, if you have dry skin, and you will use a product for combined or oily), it can do more harm than good. There are also creams with a high content of vitamins and collagens, but all of them, again, are selected individually.

Experts recommend moisturizing your skin 1-2 times a day, after you have cleansed it of impurities. Very dry skin should be moisturized more often, depending on your needs. Do not forget about sunscreen, which not only helps to protect from direct sunlight, but also helps to slow down photo-aging with regular use. This has been proven by researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Watch your diet

It’s no secret that the junk food we all love so much has a detrimental effect on our skin. High-calorie meals and fast food provoke itching, irritation and acne, while excessive consumption leads to puffiness and pigmentation. It is desirable to eat less sugar and salt. The latter can retain water in the body, which also leads to the appearance of swelling.

The daily diet should include vegetables, fruits, useful food supplements. Nutrition is better to make a balanced diet consisting of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. By the way, it is healthy fats that help to slow down skin aging. Also do not forget about vitamins A and E. You can find them in products or buy them in a pharmacy, before doing so, be sure to consult with a doctor.

Our expert believes that proper nutrition can really improve the condition of the skin. Several vitamins and useful substances will help in prolonging youth and eliminating imperfections.

  • Chlorophyll. It is found in green vegetables and prevents the formation of acne and the breakdown of collagen – a protein that provides strength and elasticity of the skin.
  • Vitamin C is a binding component for amino acids, which are necessary for the formation of proline and then collagen. Protects against toxins in the environment.
  • Lycopene. This substance can be found in tomatoes, it protects the skin from sun damage.
  • Ellagic acid. It is necessary for the body to prevent the breakdown of collagen from UV rays and optimize metabolism. It is rich in berries: raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and cranberries.
  • Zinc. Products containing it slow down the rate of protein breakdown, help speed up the healing process of wounds, which is necessary for healthy skin.

We try to be less nervous

The relationship between skin and nervous system is very interesting. Prolonged worries and stress are immediately manifested on the human skin. These can be both dermatologic diseases and signs of aging. Stress impairs the skin’s ability to repair itself and affects its elastin and collagen content. Because of this, wrinkles may appear on the face.

It is desirable to develop a habit – to devote a few minutes a day to the health of the nervous system. This can be simple breathing exercises, meditation, yoga classes. On the nervous system favorably affect the rest with family or friends, doing your favorite activity, a walk in the fresh air. If you try to maintain mental balance, you can not only for a long time to preserve the beauty and youth, but also to prevent the development of many diseases.
