What is liquid chlorophyll? What is the usefulness of liquid chlorophyll? Who should not drink it?
A new HEAVY trend is going viral on social media – liquid chlorophyll. Even celebrities drink green pigment, for example, Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon. It’s added to cosmetics, food and water. What is it, a real panacea or just another internet trend and no more?
What is liquid chlorophyll?
Chlorophyll is a green-colored pigment that provides nutrition for plants by recycling carbon dioxide (this process is called “photosynthesis”). Its name encapsulates two Greek words: chloros, meaning “green”, and phyllon, meaning “leaf”.
Chlorophyll is officially registered as food additive E140 and is referred to as a “natural dye”. There is no need to be afraid of the word “dye” – on the contrary, chlorophyll contains more important substances for humans, antioxidants and minerals. It is used by doctors to eliminate toxins from the body, cleanse the blood and alkalize the body. Chlorophyll is good for health and today it is classified as a superfood.
One of the most important properties of liquid chlorophyll is to break down fats and reduce weight. It is recommended to be consumed by people with high cholesterol.
On the intestines liquid chlorophyll has an indispensable effect – cleanses and maintains healthy microflora, improves metabolism and generally normalizes the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract).
Women benefit from consuming liquid chlorophyll to improve skin quality and reduce inflammation. The beneficial effects are due to the calcium, magnesium, iron and vitamin A contained in chlorophyll. Therefore, it is recommended to take chlorophyll for any skin inflammation – pimples, blackheads, acne.
It is worth consulting a doctor beforehand.
During the period of chlorophyll consumption, it is important to exclude oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruit, carrots, apples and dried fruits from the diet. The fact is that carrot juice and chlorophyll contain vitamin A. If the body is hyper-saturated with this vitamin, skin irritation or pigmentation may occur. Along with chlorophyll, in addition to vitamin A, it is not recommended to consume vitamins C, E and K, as well as iron, calcium and magnesium.
