Olga Kartunkova: everything that is not done for the best leads to the outstanding

– You started doing humor at a fairly advanced age. Were there any doubts as to whether you were doing it right?

– Humor is not knitting or macramé, so it would be wrong to say that I started doing it at a very advanced age. Wit is an innate human quality, and from an early age I was making friends laugh and joking with everyone. When I got older, I realized that I could amuse not only my family and friends, but also complete strangers.

– How do you achieve your goals? What motivates you not to give up?

– My main motivation is my children. If I feel mentally drained after a concert or endless traveling, even one phone conversation with them can lift my spirits and recharge me like a battery.

– In the show “Once Upon a Time in Russia” on TNT you try on completely different roles. What is the most difficult? And in what images do you feel most comfortable?

– Most of all I like those characters that in reality you can meet in absolutely any part of the world in a store, on public transportation or in line at the bank. For example, the geckling woman who can open any door without a key, because she is the very folk, the real one! I am sure that almost everyone has a similar acquaintance or even a relative. This image is collective, so a little exaggerated. But difficulties rarely arise: we have a great team and we work well together.

– What has this project given you?

– An incredible team and the opportunity to play so many different roles, which I even dreamed of! And, of course, it opened up some new opportunities for me both professionally and personally. Now I can afford a little more.

– How do you keep fit while touring and filming?

– Usually touring and filming are so intense, so I watch my diet. It’s easier for me to make myself a vegetable salad and make couscous than to deal with the consequences of a poor diet later.

– What NOT to do to lose weight? Give a “harmful advice” from Olga Kartunkova.

– You need to make yourself a greasy sandwich with sausage and butter and buy magic cocktails that promise to get rid of 20 extra pounds in just two weeks. Add closed ears and eyes to a closed mouth. You don’t need to listen to charlatans and see how miracle diets work with the help of photoshop.

– If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

– Nothing. I’m convinced that everything that is done is for the best! And everything that is not done for the best leads to outstanding.

– What does the phrase “active lifestyle” mean to you?

– In my mind, active means healthy. It means that you prefer to spend your free time not watching another TV series with a portion of ice cream, but you go for a bike ride with friends, and after 10 hours of non-stop sitting in the office at least do some exercise or take your loved one by the hand and go with him to the nearest park. And another good stimulus for activity is curiosity, inquisitiveness, the desire to discover and learn something new. With such thoughts you are unlikely to sit still.

Of course, I limit myself, but I feed my family and friends to the brim.

– Do you watch your diet now? Do you seriously limit yourself? What products do you try to avoid in your diet?

– Of course, I limit myself, but I feed my family and friends to slaughter. My diet is dominated by cereals, vegetables, fruits, herbs and boiled or baked meat. Although I love to cook and sometimes I can afford indulgences in the form of wings in sweet and sour sauce or spaghetti with cuttlefish ink.

– They say that Moscow with its frantic pace of life changes people… Do you feel these changes?

– No. Maybe it’s because I rarely stay in Moscow for long. Most of the time I’m either on tour or at home in Pyatigorsk. And in general, you get used to everything, so after the frantic rhythm in the capital, a moderate and calm rhythm will also seem unbearable.

You can see episodes of the show “Once Upon a Time in Russia” with Olga every Sunday on TNT.
