Banana bread is a traditional American dish. Originally it was baked not because it is easy and unusual, but to utilize bananas in this way. The fact is that this fruit cannot be frozen, and spoils rather quickly. In order not to throw out the fruit, housewives from the United States began to use slightly blackened bananas for baking.
Benefits of banana bread
Banana muffin can be attributed to a healthy sweet. Especially if you replace sugar in the recipe with honey or maple syrup, and wheat flour with an alternative.
Nutritionist Anna Berseneva advises to choose flour from green bananas instead of wheat flour. You can also use almond or coconut flour.
“Green banana flour has a high level of fiber, and this is food for beneficial bacteria in our intestines. Also, the glycemic index of such bread will be optimal, because the digestible carbohydrates will be much less. And ordinary wheat flour together with bananas will entail an increase in the glycemic index. Accordingly, if you are overweight, problems with carbohydrate metabolism and diabetes, I do not recommend such bread.
Classic recipe for banana bread
You will need:
- whole wheat or banana flour – 250 g;
- bananas – 3 pcs;
- butter – 90 g;
- dough leavening agent – 8 g;
- chicken eggs – 2 pcs;
- sugar – 150 g;
- pinch of salt ;
- vanilla extract – ½ tsp.
Bananas should be peeled and mashed. Add to them melted butter. Eggs lightly beat and pour into the resulting mass. Also pour sugar, leavening agent, salt, flour and vanilla extract into it.
Pour the ready dough into a greased container and put in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees. Bake for about 40-45 minutes.
At the end, take the bread out of the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. After that the dessert can be served to the table.
