Scientists have figured out how to eat pasta to lose weight

Good news: you won’t have to give up Italian dinners for the sake of your figure.

Pasta is often on the list of dishes that most diets forbid. But why do ZOJniki so dislike the greatest pleasure of Italians? The fact is that pasta is rich in carbohydrates, quite caloric and their consumption causes sharp spikes in blood sugar levels. So should we give up pasta for good? Fortunately, you won’t have to. Scientists have found that stale (i.e. reheated pasta) is much less harmful to our body and figure.

Why is heated pasta healthier?

BBC conducted an experiment in which participants had to eat the same pasta dishes on different days. But with one difference: sometimes the pasta was freshly cooked, other days – cold, the rest of the time – heated.

It turned out that the reheated pasta caused much smaller spikes in the subjects’ blood sugar.

“After reheating, the pasta starch behaves more like the starch in beans, bananas or oats,” said researcher Dr. Chris van Tuelleken.

That is, some of the digestible starch is transformed into undigestible starch by the temperature difference. And this has a positive effect on its properties. This new form is called resistant starch, instead of digesting it, fiber is formed, which increases satiety time and maintains a more stable blood sugar level. So this kind of pasta even helps your weight loss. That’s news to me!

What else needs to be heated?

The effect of temperature on the properties of other foods has not yet been fully studied. However, we can already say that this method works with rice and potatoes. Check it out and see if this quick trick will make your weight loss process a lot easier.
