What Maria Sharapova’s new ranch in Santa Barbara looks like. She bought it for almost $9 million

Five-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one Maria Sharapova has been living in the suburbs of Los Angeles for many years, where she finished building her Japanese-style house a year ago. And now the richest Russian athlete according to various versions of “Forbes” has bought for $ 8.6 million and a country ranch overlooking the ocean near the Californian town of Santa Barbara, so well known to our viewers. We offer to make a photo and video tour of the new possessions of the tennis player.

According to Variety, in the California property registry there is a new record that Maria Sharapova has purchased a country ranch near Santa Barbara, which occupies 5 acres of land. This is about 2 hectares or 200 hectares in the dimension understood by Russian dacha owners.

On the territory of the ranch there are three separate buildings. The main house is decorated in Balinese style with open wooden ceilings, a bedroom, bathroom, other living areas and a beautiful stone terrace overlooking the ocean.

Adjoining the house, hidden by a thick cover of lush foliage, is a separate studio that could become a private office and artist’s studio.

It is worth recalling that Sharapova’s boyfriend – British businessman Alex Gilks is engaged in investing in works of art and antiques. He knows many artists, designers, representatives of various directions of art business. Perhaps this studio is just for Alex.

The second structure is a guest house with a two-piece Dutch-style front door and a back door that leads to a spacious stone patio. There, a walk across the hilly lawn leads down the mountain directly to the beach.

The third room is the caretaker’s cottage. It adjoins a stable with five stalls and additional riding facilities.

In addition to the buildings, the ranch has a special barbecue area, a garden with roses, lavender and jasmine, even a bamboo grove that looks more like a tropical jungle.

There are a lot of open lawns on the territory of the ranch. Here Sharapova, who in February 2020 announced the end of her athletic career, can successfully practice both yoga and boxing, do stretching exercises, and can build a tennis court if necessary.

Santa Barbara, like the surrounding communities, has long suffered from drought, so Sharapova will no doubt appreciate the private 15,000-gallon water well – that’s nearly 57,000 liters.

From the hilltop at the ranch, there are stunning views of the ocean coast and mountains.

According to real estate registries, Maria bought this ranch with all the gardens, buildings and interior decoration for 8.6 million dollars. For the Russian tennis player this amount is quite affordable, because, according to Forbes, Sharapova earned 325 million dollars for her tennis career. And prize money – only $ 38,777,962, and the rest was made up of advertising and professional contracts.

In 2012, the Russian invested $500,000 in her Sugarpova brand of sweets. Now Maria is actively involved in investing in the fitness industry. In March 2020, Sharapova invested in a startup producing weighted fitness bracelets Bala Bangles, and in August she became an investor and chief advisor to Therabody, a company that produces massagers and other gadgets for body care.
