Guide to Quiksilver New Star Camp

While you can still join the most long-awaited snowboarding party of the year and extend the riding season for yourself, we decided to compile our guide to the camp and take you through its main zones. And to help us out, we’ll be assisted by DC team veteran and experienced snowboard instructor – Yura Gavrilov and Roxy team rider, 2016 Snowboard World Cup winner, winner and medalist of snowboard world championships Sonya Fedorova.

ROSA PIK.

Rosa Pik is the highest point for downhill skiing in Krasnaya Polyana. From it you can go down the piste, or you can go straight into the backcountry. Descent from Rosa Peak allows you to get to the upper extreme park of the camp or make a long line to the main park.

UPPER PARK

The upper extreme park of the camp is in snake line format. It has a variety of terrain, gives the opportunity to quietly chase in the snowbowl and jibble on the numerous rails.

MAIN PARK

In the main extreme park of Quiksilver New Star Camp you will find: pussy lane, pro lane, big kicker for competitions (70000 tons of snow were used for it), special figures and a volley ride. In total there are 14 jibb figures and 6 jump figures.

It is in this park that all snowboard contests of the camp take place, as well as free Quiksilver Go Snowboarding lessons and Lib Tech board tests.

The construction of both parks is the responsibility of the camp’s technical director Peter Yastrebkov, US shaper Jacob Pellegrini and Russian rathrak pilot Dmitry Kuksenok.

CHILL OUT ZONE.

Located at the bottom of the main park. It is the main place of partying and rest on the mountain – to have a snack, sunbathe on deck chairs and pouffes, relax with friends to hit tracks from DJ`s familiar to everyone.

This year the festival justifies its slogan “supernova explosion”. The zone became not only a place of rest, but also opened a lot of opportunities for its guests: to test sunscreen, rent the latest model of GoPro, connect to free wi-fi, charge gadgets that died during the ride in special boxes with multi-cables, locked with a key and giving the opportunity to stay in the party for a minute. And also to get a credit card of the general partner of the camp Tinkoff.

Regular guests of the festival know how difficult it was a year ago to catch a net or buy sunscreen at the height of sunny days, and prices at ski resorts are legendary throughout Russia. Although, judging by our excursion, we should give credit to Rosa Khutor – we also found a lot of opportunities for “budget tourists”.

ROXY YOGA & FITNESS

In addition to the traditional morning yoga, this year there are daily functional fitness trainings. Both are at the Rose Haven building at the bottom of the Preserve Forest cable car. Also on certain days, workouts are held in Rosa Valley outdoors overlooking the mountains, near the pond and Radisson Hotel. This is a very convenient solution, as both those who live on the Rosa Plateau and guests of the hotels below can get to the workout. For those who like to sleep in longer, the workout was also done in the evenings.

BERLOGA.

The self-service restaurant “Berloga”, which operates in a canteen and bar format is located at the very bottom of the Reserve Forest cable car in the Rosa Shelter building. An unchanged meeting place before the ascent and after the descent from the mountain.

GRUSHA RESTAURANT

Another general recreation spot. Good cuisine and a wooden outdoor terrace with mountain views and access to the slope.

FESTIVAL HEADQUARTERS

The festival headquarters is located at the very beginning of the Alley of Flags on the Rosa Plateau. Head here to get your registration and Quiksilver New Star Camp membership card. Here you can also get acquainted with the festival program, sign up for Quiksilver Go Snowboarding training, buy sunscreen cosmetics of the festival partner and ask any questions. To the organizers. Right in front of the headquarters there is NEW STAR BAR – one of the places where campers meet and party. There are also parties at Riders Lodge (Rosa Plateau), Sky Club (Esto-Sadok), and Lavanda (Rosa Valley).

RIDERS LODGE / BOARDSPEAKERS / MOVIE ROOM

Riders Lodge is not just a hotel for riders, where most of the festival participants live. It is a center of active recreation, entertainment and endless partying. On the first floor, in addition to the legendary and beloved by everyone SURF Coffee, bar and kicker tables, there is the only high-mountain movie theater, where you can sit on comfortable sofas, frameless chairs and even on the floor while watching movies. There are also free lectures and master classes every evening from the best riders, cameramen, photographers and all those who really have something to tell the guests of the festival. There are also gaming consoles downstairs and on every floor, to the delight of vacationing gamers.

A branch of the FLACON design factory with craft beer, a coffee shop and other hipster spots is located at the very bottom of Rosa Plateau.

ROSA VALLEY.

The lower level of Rosa Khutor resort and one of the camp guests’ accommodations. Here we go down the Olympia cable car for a quieter atmosphere, pleasant evening promenade and shopping. Quiksilver Go Longboard training takes place down here at the foot of the mountain.
