How do I tie my running shoes?

It turns out that getting rid of discomfort can be so simple.

For comfortable and reliable running is not enough to buy good sneakers – you still need to lace them up correctly. There are many different ways: for wide and narrow feet, for flat feet and high instep. Choose the right one and enjoy running!

Method 1: Loop

This kind of lacing provides a snug fit that prevents your foot from shifting in the shoe while running, regardless of the surface.

How to do:

  • Thread the lace through all available holes on the sneaker except the last one;
  • On each side, thread the lace through the top hole, leaving a small loop;
  • cross the shoelace and pull it through the loop left;
  • tighten and tie the bow.

Method 2. Diagonal

This way of lacing your sneakers will avoid the occurrence of “black toenails,” a common problem among runners that occurs due to the pressure of the toe of the shoe on the nail.

How to do:

  • thread the shoelace through from the side closest to the big toe (on the right foot it’s on the left, on the left foot it’s on the right);
  • pull it up and thread it through the last hole on the opposite side;
  • take the second part of the lace (it should be much longer) and lace as usual (diagonally).

Method 3. Parallel

Suitable for those who have a high arch of the foot: such lacing will help to reduce the pressure on the upper part of the shoe during running.

How to do:

  • Pass the laces through the bottom holes and bring them inside the sneaker from both ends;
  • one end of the shoelace goes up from the right, out of the upper hole and into the left hole;
  • both ends lift up and lead outside each through one hole, pull through to the opposite side and pull above.

Method 4. with skips

This method will help to get rid of discomfort for owners of a wide foot. If after it, too, it will be uncomfortable to run, then it is necessary to change shoes.

How to do:

  • Lacing as usual, but making two skips.

Method 5. “Lock”

Such a method allows you to prevent excessive stretching of the plantar fascia and medial tendons, so it will suit those who have a problem of flat feet.

How to make:

  • zigzag lace up to the penultimate hole;
  • thread the laces through the last hole on each side parallel to each other;
  • slip the ends into the loops on the opposite side;
  • tie a bow on the side.

All of these methods will keep you comfortable during your run and make it much safer. Choose the one that is right for you.
