How useful is birch sap?

Birch sap is a natural biostimulant, rich in vitamins and has beneficial properties. Here are six reasons to add this drink to your diet.

Birch sap also contains beneficial bacteria that repopulate the intestines and improve digestion. Several studies have shown that such a drink has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Natural juice has other health-promoting effects as well.

Normalizes the level of cholesterol

Birch saponin compound is present in birch sap, which helps to reduce the level of harmful cholesterol in the blood. It binds cholesterol and bile acids, thereby preventing the absorption of cholesterol and improving its excretion from the body.

Helps to lose weight

Birch sap is able to eliminate excess salt, phosphates, uric acid, ammonia and drug residues (particularly antibiotics) from the body. The body without toxins gets rid of excess pounds faster. The drink is quite low-calorie (24 kcal per 100 ml) and well reduces appetite. Diuretic effect helps to cope with edema.

Improves liver function

The drink is rich in minerals, nutrients and vitamin B12, especially useful for maintaining liver health. The juice’s antioxidant properties help eliminate toxins and harmful substances (saturated fats, alcohol, pesticides, etc.) that the liver processes.

Cleanses and vitaminizes the skin

Birch sap improves the skin of the face and body. Thanks to its ability to remove toxins from the body, the skin becomes more shiny and elastic.

Boosts immunity

The large amount of vitamin C in birch sap boosts immunity, especially in case of colds, infectious and allergic diseases, and cleanses the blood of toxins.

Protects against tooth decay

Birch sap contains wood sugar – xylitol. Its peculiarity is that it does not support the usual processes of vital activity of dangerous bacteria and thus provokes their death. As a consequence, there is a normalization of the acid-base balance and a reduction in the adverse effects of acids on tooth enamel.

Who can drink birch juice

Juice can be drunk to maintain the health of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, to restore immunity. As a diuretic, it is useful for kidney function, but provided that you do not have urolithiasis. With diabetes, the juice should be drunk with caution, since it contains fructose and sucrose (up to 5% of the chemical composition), and in the store drink there may be added sugar. People with an allergy to birch pollen – quite logically – need to refuse such juice.

When buying a drink, pay attention to the composition. Natural contains only two ingredients: birch juice and citric acid. Check the drink is simple: real birch juice when heated darkens and becomes brown in color.
