Anton Miranchuk’s 10 favorite movies

Anton Miranchuk

What kind of movies does Lokomotiv Moscow and Russian national team midfielder Anton Miranchuk watch? There’s no need to guess: he told us everything himself.

Our colleagues from Afisha addressed Lokomotiv midfielder Anton Miranchuk with an unusual request. They did not ask the “railroader” when his club will win the title in the Russian championship or whether the Russian national team will be able to qualify at least from the group at the World Cup. No – colleagues asked Anton to name 10 of his favorite movies. Below – a selection from Miranchuk and a brief description of each of the pictures.

“The Great Equalizer” (Antoine Fuqua).

A retired CIA agent works as a salesman and reads books, licking the wounds of the past. However, he decides to come out of the shadows to save a young prostitute who is being brutally raped by the Russian mafia led by oligarch Pushkin. The director of “Training Day” called up the beloved Denzil Washington for the lead role, despite the fact that the character was white and gray in the original series.

“Gangster” (Ridley Scott).

A crime drama about a Negro mobster (Denzel Washington) and an honest cop (Russell Crowe). Epic scope, unadventurous characters, fantastically rich texture of the turn of the 60s-70s. Ridley Scott was clearly going to make “Black ‘Scarface,'” but something didn’t work out for him. The aftertaste from “Gangster” remains some kind of vegetarian.

“Gladiator” (Ridley Scott).

The aging Emperor Marcus Aurelius decides to make his heir General Maximus, a faithful commander who won a grand victory in a battle with Germanic tribes, his heir. The Emperor’s son Commodus kills his father and orders Maximus and his family to be massacred. Having miraculously escaped death, the former general becomes a slave-gladiator named Spaniard. Having gained well-deserved fame in brutal duels, he and a group of gladiators arrive in Rome.

“Rage” (Tony Scott)

A depressing, moody and extremely beautiful action movie. Ex-church killer Creasy (Washington) takes a job with a wealthy Mexican family to guard a blonde girl (Fanning), who is soon kidnapped for ransom. Creasy sets out to exact revenge.

“Two Guns” (Balthasar Kormakur).

A new English-language film by Icelandic Balthasar Kormakur, based on a comic book about two agents of different special services (Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg) who are embedded in gangster circles, but are unaware of each other’s real professions. In the course of the movie it gradually becomes clear that the fight against the mafia is in fact an underhanded war of various government agencies. It’s a goofy and fun attempt to revive the tradition of “Bad Guys” and other movies about two friends with guns.

You can find out the titles of five more of Anton Miranchuk’s favorite films on the updated “Playbill”!

On April 17, Afisha presented a new version of its service portal: afisha.ru has become more convenient, faster and more comfortable. Here now you can not only read movie reviews and find out the schedule, but also filter your favorite cinemas, read a short review of the film to quickly make a decision and buy a ticket, post your review and share it in social networks. It should be noted that the Afisha website was launched almost simultaneously with the founding of the magazine, in 1999.
