Batman Returns: what Ben Affleck looks like now

Director, actor, screenwriter and producer Ben Affleck is about to turn 48. Apparently, he returned to active training and began to get in shape. While up to the superhero, as he was in “Batman v Superman”, is still far away, but now the actor is noticeably pumped up, lost weight, dyed hair and beard and began to look much younger. Affleck has repeatedly proved to fans that body transformation is a common thing for him. And how does he manage it?

Dramatic changes

Back in April, Affleck looked much “more solid” and older: beard with graying, hair – too. Paparazzi spotted him on a walk in Los Angeles with his current girlfriend, actress Ana de Armas (Bond girl in the movie “No Time to Die”). The pair walked their dogs together.

At the time, the 15-year age difference seemed quite noticeable, but now Affleck looks much younger. It’s not just that he has tinted his hair and beard, removing gray hair. The main changes are in his body. The actor has lost about 10 kg, pumped up and now looks the same as he did five years ago, when he came in shape for the movie “Batman v Superman”.

In 2015, it was not easy for Affleck to train – he had serious problems with alcohol against the background of divorce proceedings with Jennifer Garner. Then to turn into a real superhero Ben helped a whole team of trainers and nutritionists.

Now he, despite his advanced age, regularly goes to the gym, runs in the morning and generally leads a healthy lifestyle.

Batman’s training

During the filming of “City of Thieves” the actor began to train under the guidance of Walter Norton. Cooperation proved to be very fruitful. The coach developed a special program for Affleck, which took into account all his features. But then Ben was 36 years old, and the body perceived the load much easier.

Seven years later, during the preparation for filming “Batman v Superman” actor had a much more difficult. The training program was built in such a way that each week to work a particular muscle group, and generally emphasized bodybuilding. Three days a week Affleck engaged in strength, and the rest of the time paid attention to cardio and recovery.

The training plan of the hero of Gotham looked like this:

Day one – pecs and triceps.

Day two – warm-up, jog 40-60 minutes, warm-up.

Day three – back muscles and biceps.

Day four – warm-up, jog 40-60 minutes, warm-up.

Day five – deltoids and leg muscles.

Day six – warm-up, jog 40-60 minutes, warm-up.

Day 7 – recovery.

Thanks to well-planned classes Affleck was able to quickly dry up and replace the fat layer with muscle mass, without losing much weight. As a result, by the beginning of the shooting process, the actor not only looked like a superhero, but could easily pull up with an additional weight of 30 kg. In the role of the Dark Knight, the actor weighed 102 kg at 7.5% fat, and six months earlier – 105 kg at 12%.

Bruce Wayne’s nutrition

As you know, and the best training program will not give a wow-effect without a proper nutrition plan. The task of nutritionists was to make a diet that allows you to increase strength, but at the same time remove subcutaneous fat.

The diet for Batman was developed by nutritionist Rehan Jelati. He took into account the fact that at the time the actor could not completely give up alcohol – Affleck had a special day for “unloading”.

Preparing for the role of a superhero, Ben ate 6-7 times a day in small portions. And proteins, fats and carbohydrates fell into his body at a strictly calibrated “correct” time.

After the completion of filming Affleck relaxed a little and for a while stopped so carefully monitor the figure. Now, however, he seems determined to return to his peak form. Perhaps soon fans will be waiting for a new superhero movie with the storm of Gotham crime.
