Once you get here once, you won’t want to miss this event again. Every year the camp becomes cooler and cooler, the bar rises to the sky and goes into space. This year the festival was visited by 5 thousand people, which makes it not only the largest in Russia, but also one of the largest in the world!
The festival can be conditionally divided into three parts – riding on the mountain, training and music. Together they create a unique event that brings together thousands of people. So how was the camp this year? Let’s take a look back!

The heart of the camp was the snow park, which was constantly filled with riders charged to perform their best tricks. The biggest park in Russia was built especially for the festival. Riders and 30 professionals worked day and night to keep all the figures in perfect condition. Professional or amateur, snowboarder or skier, master or beginner – it doesn’t matter, absolutely all participants enjoyed the park. A powerful big air for the pros who simply destroyed it with their tricks. Jibbers hit the snow paradise, because the number of rails and figures exceeded three dozen, and their variety left no one indifferent. There were two lines with kickers of different complexity for stylized tricks or just practicing first jumps.

Every day there were competitions in the park, in which anyone could take part. Jibbers could also try their hand at the JBL Push The Button contest. And in the Efes Ollie Contest it was possible to find out who had the highest ollie on the mountain. For those who like to race there was a parallel slalom race Speedtest Race from MegaFon. It was a very hot spectacle with uncompromising fight, in which more than 80 people took part. So they could find out who was the fastest at the festival.

Red Bull Roll the Dice, which has already become a classic contest, allowed to determine the most stable riders, both among snowboarders and skiers. Huge dice indicated the tricks that riders had to repeat. This helps level the playing field between beginners and pros when quality, style and consistency come first.

Toyota hosted the finals of the Road Show jibbing competition. In between races the spectators were amazed with their tricks by moto-freestylers from FMX 13 team. At an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level, in the mountains, in Sochi. Motorcyclists under the leadership of the most famous rider in Russia Alexey Kolesnikov showed what backflip and rodeo are on a huge springboard under the gaze of several thousand spectators.

Both professional riders and beginners riding for the second or third season took part in the competition. A huge number of pro riders from all over the world come to the camp, and they are very happy to share their experience and help beginners. Progress is possible when there is someone stronger than you. The festival has its own unique atmosphere that unites people who love active lifestyle and good music.

Among the guests of the festival were participants of the last Olympics, famous pro-riders and extreme athletes from all over the world. All of them took part in competitions, gave lectures, conducted master classes and just hung out like all the visitors of the camp. The father of Russian jibbing Denis “Bonus” Leontiev, mountain biker Pavel “Cherry” Alekhin, FMX-rider Alexey Kolesnikov, motorcycle racer Anastasia Nifontova, riders Vlad Khadarin and Sonya Fedorova, Finn Bilous from New Zealand and many others. Next to such guys even those who were not going to ride, got up on the board.

The festival is a great opportunity to learn and try something new, like snowboarding, “bombing” on a long rail or trying out a new trick. Quiksilver Go Snowboard and Quiksilver Go Ski schools offered a range of training programs for both skiers and boarders. Anyone could take part. And famous pro-riders led their own master classes. Yesterday you saw your idol on TV at the Olympics, and today he shows you how to do indy 720 correctly. This is possible only at the festival!

The informative events did not end there. Almost every evening any participant of the festival could attend a lecture or a movie screening at the art platform “Flacon 1170”. Secrets and know-how from the world of sports photography, tips from famous athletes, chips and tricks from famous DJs, course of action when caught in an avalanche – all this and much more could be learned at the festival.

When so many people charged with the same idea of having a good time get together – the real magic starts to happen. Beautiful and smart girls, sporty and smiling guys, big families and mysterious singles – there is room for everyone at the camp. Saying hello to everyone you meet becomes a habit from day one. You get the feeling that everyone around you is a distant acquaintance you’ve crossed paths with before.

Every day in the morning before skating at the festival there were group yoga classes from Yoga Method studio and fitness workouts. It’s a great energizer for the day and just a soothing way to spend time. And after a whole day on the mountain you can also do yoga in the evening or go to fitness training from the school of ideal body #SEKTA. If you work out during the day, you can rest at night, and by rest we definitely don’t mean sleep.

The most important component of the Quiksilver New Star Camp festival is music. It’s everywhere, just everywhere. In the snow park at an altitude of 1600 meters from nine in the morning until the evening every day DJs changed near the mega-comfortable chill-out zone. How about spending a recharge with Ivan Dorn? Easy, because it’s a campground!

At night all the participants were waiting for the Sky Club dance floor. DJ Z-Trip from America, who became famous for his mashup skills, played a killer set. DJ ESKEI83 loved by the participants of the last camp, and this year simply exploded the dance floor. Hip-hop masters Afu-Ra and Jeru the Damaja rocked people at the party in honor of the launch of the new model of DC Shoes Meridian. British grime singer Riko Dan showed what a real recitative is all about. JBL gave all the participants a #HORRYSound party with the team of UPPERCUTS DJs.

For true lovers of electro-music, Miller Apres-Ski veranda near the mountain welcomed guests every day. Also in Sky Club there was a secret dance floor, where the most famous house DJs Sanchez, Sapunov, Max Aplin and DJ Nagiev were tearing up. Mountains, sunsets, dance floor and music until the wee hours of the morning – repeat!

After the festival, going home, you start immediately thinking about the next Quiksilver New Star Camp. In 2019 it will celebrate its first anniversary, it will be exactly 10 years old. At the ninth camp, the bar was raised very high. But the organizers are always full of new ideas and surprises. The best festival in the mountains is getting cooler and bigger every year. You don’t want to miss it, do you?
