But even if you have a hearty breakfast, it is wrong to limit yourself to one meal. Why it is harmful and what happens if you eat only breakfast for a few days, let’s analyze together with nutritionist Mila Mikityuk.

Why can not skip lunch and dinner?

Of course, breakfast is an important meal. However, lunch is equally important. If you are undernourished with complex carbohydrates or your body lacks energy, then closer to the evening you will start to break down and eat everything in double quantities. This can cause a feeling of heaviness in the stomach and worsen the quality of sleep.

It is desirable not to skip any meals, because the body will lack nutrients.

How many times should you eat a day?

In general, the nutriciologist recommends eating three times a day. However, some people are more comfortable to distribute the daily menu for five or six times. The expert believes that in each case everything is individual. For example, people with diabetes should still eat three times a day.

How should the daily calorie intake be distributed among meals?

Calorie intake must be completely full. Calorie deficit leads to stress, and the body goes into “energy conservation” mode – metabolism slows down.

Instead of losing weight, the body deposits nutrients in the form of “fat traps”. In order not to have problems, focus on this regulation: breakfast should be 20-25% of the daily calorie allowance, lunch – 35-40%, dinner – 15-20%, the rest is left for snacks.

What happens if you eat only breakfast for several days in a row?

Nutriciologist believes that for several days to keep exclusively on breakfast is impossible. The body will not get enough nutrients (proteins, fats and carbohydrates).

If you eat only breakfast for several days in a row:

  • you will feel hungry all day long;
  • it will become a strong stress for the body, and when you start eating normally, it will leave calories “in reserve”;
  • you can get hormone disruption;
  • you can get gastritis or aggravate the situation with an already existing disease.

You should not take risks and experiment on yourself. When we give the body everything it needs, we get the appropriate result. We have a lot of strength and energy, good mood and enough motivation to do sports, actively work and strive for even greater goals.
