When does the mushroom season begin?

Mushroom season in the Moscow region traditionally begins in the spring and continues until late fall. Thus, the first mushrooms appear in mid-April: these are morels, strochki and maslyata. They are followed by buntings and currants: for them the season begins in May. And after that, in the period from the beginning of summer until mid-October, you can eat aspen mushrooms, porcini, chanterelles, opiats and pears, mushrooms. By the way, in November you can still find oyster mushrooms.

Keep in mind, especially a lot of mushrooms after the rains and during the period of sharp temperature changes. If, for example, after precipitation has passed five days, then there is a high probability that the collection of mushrooms will bring a rich harvest to all lovers of “quiet hunting”.

Where to look for mushrooms depending on the species?

The Moscow region is famous for its vast forests, accordingly, mushrooms in the Moscow region are driven by a great variety. But if you are going hunting for certain mushrooms, you should be aware of where to look for them.

  • White mushrooms like the sun – you can find them in forests without thickets.
  • Podberezoviks, as you can easily guess, are found near birch trees in mixed forests.
  • Podosinoviks prefer to hide near deciduous trees.
  • Chanterelles hide under moss and fallen leaves. Their habitat is coniferous-deciduous forests.

Where can not collect mushrooms?

However, there is an opinion that white mushrooms, aspenberries and Siberian spruce are the most convenient to twist, and opiata, currants and mushrooms should be cut with a knife – because of the fragility of their legs. But most importantly, you should never dig up the mushroom meadow. In addition, the remaining holes after harvesting should be covered with earth.

On a “quiet hunt” is best to go early in the morning: so the risk that you will not be overtaken by competitors, plus wet mushroom caps will be more noticeable.

Rules of going to the forest

First, think about your clothes: they should be loose and sturdy. Dress for the weather and don’t forget about headgear. Remember about ticks: give preference to high socks, so that it was more convenient to tuck in them pants.

Choose comfortable shoes – some people tend to favor sneakers, others – rubber boots. But it all depends on weather conditions and personal comfort.

It is better to put the necessary things in a backpack in advance. These include: compass, water and snack, knife, basket for collecting mushrooms, first aid kit with necessary medicines, remedies for ticks and mosquitoes, flashlight and necessarily charged cell phone.

What mushrooms grow in the Moscow region?

  2. Yaroslavl direction. Zelenogradskaya and Kalistovo stations are rich in opiats, oyster mushrooms, champignons, moss mushrooms and porcini.
  3. Kiev direction. The forests of Alabino, Selyatino, Rassudovo and Bekasovo stations near Moscow are rich in the following mushrooms: hogs, oyster mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, oyster mushrooms and blister mushrooms.
  4. Kazan direction. Pay attention to the stations Danino, Grigorovo, Ignatievo, Lukhovitsy, Egoryevsk. In these places there are many mixed and coniferous forests. In the tall grass you can find autumn opiats, blue and white mushrooms.
