Moscow Sports Day 2024: date, schedule and program

On July 6, Moscow Sports Day will be held in Luzhniki. In 2024, the event is dedicated to the Year of the Family. It is the brightest and largest summer holiday that you can spend together with your loved ones. Various competitions, exhibitions and master classes dedicated to sports and active lifestyle will be held on the territory of the complex.

History of the holiday

Last year, Moscow sports turned 100 years old. Officially, on June 27, 1923, the Supreme Council of Physical Culture was founded – it is from this day that all sports achievements of the capital are recorded. The first holiday dedicated to Moscow sports took place on August 12, 1928. In the beginning, athletes from foreign countries marched in procession through the capital, followed by a column of representatives of the USSR. This Spartakiada gave a start to the development of mass sports in Moscow.

What do you need to know about the Moscow Sports Day in 2024?

Luzhniki will host 20 thematic sites dedicated to soccer, table tennis, figure skating, vorkout, chess, streetball, fishing, street racing, Rubik’s cube assembly and extreme sports. The organizers have prepared a lot of master classes, competitions and demonstrations of famous athletes, with whom you can communicate within the fan meetings. Below will be the current schedule of events.

Every guest will be able to be a part of two Russian records at once: the largest table tennis tournament and the country’s most massive stretching workout by gymnast Samira Mustafayeva. In addition, a simultaneous chess session on 100 boards with Sergey Koryakin will take place in Luzhniki.

The Moscow Sports Day will feature two open trainings by legendary athletes. Eteri Tutberidze will hold a master class for pupils of Moscow sports schools in the figure skating zone. And from 13:30 to 15:00 there will be demonstration performances of titled figure skaters. In the martial arts zone there will be an open training of Olympic silver medalist and absolute world champion in the light-heavyweight category Roy Jones Jr. This will be followed by a demonstration fight.

Fan meetings with biathlete Olga Zaitseva, figure skaters Evgenia Medvedeva and Alexei Yagudin, boxer Roy Jones Jr. and French stuntman David Bellem, the founder and leader of the parkour movement, will be held in Luzhniki.

There will be a big concert on the territory of the complex, where famous artists will perform. Bianca, Oleg Miami, Nyusha, Akmal, Anna Sedokova, ST, Anet Say, the groups “Vintage” and “Pizza”, Sheba, Elman, Mona, Toni, Andro, Elsea, Loc-Dog, AMCHI, Kamazz, “Vintage”, GAYAZOV$ BROTHER$, Galibri&Mavik and a secret guest will please the visitors with their hits. The grandiose musical program will start at 14:00 and will last for seven hours.

How to take part in the Moscow Sports Day?

The sports festival in Luzhniki is scheduled to start at 11:00. Anyone can take part in it. All events are free, but to attend some of them you need to register in advance on the official website of the Moscow Sports Day. It is possible to come to the holiday with children. For young visitors on the territory of the complex will be organized separate areas with activities.
