Super Bowl 2019: Why is it worth watching the broadcast?

It’s no secret that American soccer has long been the most popular sport in the United States. Although it didn’t have to win anything – it just happened that way from the beginning. The Super Bowl is, if not a national holiday, then definitely one of the main events of the year in the country. All tickets to the final game are sold out before they even go on sale. Let’s find out where the craze started and why it’s so bright and expensive now.

American soccer or soccer?

If there’s no difference in the two concepts for you, you’re obviously not a big connoisseur of American soccer. The thing is that soccer in the U.S. is called European soccer, which we are accustomed to, but soccer – the very game with an oval ball, which not only can, but also need to grab hands.

The duration of such a game is 60 minutes. In the match wins the team with more points, which can be earned in different ways: bring the ball into the opponent’s scoring zone (touchdown, brings six points), scoring it in the goal “from the game” (field goal, three points), stop the attacking team with the ball in its own scoring zone (safeties, two points).

There are 11 players from each team on the field at a time, but in American soccer there is a very pronounced specialization, and therefore the players are changed at each transition from offense to defense (and vice versa).

It is a common belief that brute force decides everything in this game, but in fact there are many strategies of play that make this sport very interesting and entertaining.

What is the Super Bowl?

It’s basically the final game of the National Football League (NFA) American soccer championship, but in America it has long since become something more. The authors of the promotional brochure even wrote that the ancient Greeks found their gods on Olympus, but Americans are finding their gods in the scoring area of playing soccer fields in New Orleans and Passadonna, Houston and Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.

The final match is known around the world for its scale and extravaganza showcasing international stars. The event is comparable in spectacle to Olympic ceremonies, UEFA Champions League finals and the FIFA World Cup.

The first Super Bowl game was played on January 15, 1967. It featured the winner of the NFL (National Football League) championship and the champion of the young rival AFL (American Football League). Three years later, the two divisions finally merged and the teams began competing for the NFL championship. Since then, the game has been played annually on the Sunday immediately following the playoff stage, a day they call Super Bowl Sunday.

What’s the scale of it?

Last year, 67,612 spectators attended the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots. On that day, Philadelphia won the NFL’s final game for the first time. The game ended with a score of 41-33.

Forbes estimates that the Super Bowl is the most expensive brand among sporting events ($ 630 million in revenue per day). Of course, profits are growing far from ticket sales. TV ratings for the finals lead the way among sports broadcasts. It turns out that since 2010, none of the matches has not gathered a national audience of less than 100 million people, which is one-third of the total population of the country, so the question of an extended weekend in honor of this event is brought up for discussion every year.
