It’s great when in amateur and professional sports there is room for honest victories, humanity, respect for opponents and just cute and touching acts. All this allows us to say with confidence that sport is more than just medal trials, doping scandals and intrigue at the top. All this allows us to look at our favorite athletes and complete strangers amateur athletes from a different angle.

Matthew Rhys during the London Marathon

A marathon isn’t just a race against the clock and a challenging endurance course. For most athletes, the main goal is to reach the end of the course, because the body can fail at any moment, even in the last meters to the finish line. During the London Marathon, runner Matthew Rhys helped another runner, David Wyatt, to the finish line when he felt unwell.

Brother for brother

No one is immune to the unexpected on the marathon course. Heat stroke, hypothermia or a number of other force majeure can happen to both amateur and professional. Domracheva’s beautiful finish in Antholz

There was a touching episode in the women’s pursuit final in Antholz. Daria Domracheva and Dorothea Virer were fighting for silver all the last lap. And at the moment when the Italian turned to the finish line, Domracheva’s ski hit Dorothea’s stick. At that moment Virer dropped her pole, but she did not stop and rolled to the finish line with all her might. Daria, seeing the loss of her rival, emphatically lowered her hands and stopped the fight. As a result, Virer finished second, and Domracheva remained third.

Djokovic’s appearance on the court is always a little show. This time the Serbian tennis player saved a ball boy from the rain. It was touching and funny, the audience appreciated and supported Novak with applause.

10-year-old little Ann managed to do what many girls dream of. After all, she invited Alexander Ovechkin himself to dinner. One of the busiest and most famous hockey players of our days met with his young fans on the ice arena. The young hockey player Ann was not confused and offered him to meet in the evening and eat sushi. Ovechkin could not refuse. At the meeting he gave the girl a bouquet of roses and presented his uniform sweater with autographs of the team members.
