On average, a decrease in training performance and body quality begins to be felt after four weeks of not exercising. You probably didn’t feel any significant changes during the New Year holidays. After all, a break of 10 days is not that critical for your figure. However, some negative consequences could appear, for example, swelling and a couple of unwanted pounds on the scale. This could happen due to eating mayonnaise salads and drinking alcohol in large quantities.

If sports are your habit, a break of 7-10 days is even good for you. Your nervous system and muscles are rested, and your psyche is prepared for new records. Plus, if you are an avid athlete, most likely you spent New Year’s vacation actively. This means that you should not worry about losing your shape.

You certainly didn’t get out of shape over New Year’s vacation if you:

You did one light workout a week. Even a short workout of 25-35 minutes will slow down the decline.

Have consumed little or no alcohol. If you drink sweet cocktails, you can get the daily caloric content of the diet in a couple of glasses. In addition, even in small amounts, alcohol slows down the process of protein synthesis, affects the process of body recovery after training.

Carefully monitored nutrition. Do not overeat and close the norm of the diet on proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

If you take a break from sports for up to three weeks, it will slightly affect sports performance. The main thing is to return to the previous rhythm after the rest.
