Kvass is one of the few drinks that not only quenches thirst on a hot day, but also benefits the body. It is useful due to the large amount of vitamins B, E and C, as well as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and other substances. And lactic and acetic acid in the composition help digestion.

Now kvass drinks in stores contain food additives, flavorings and dyes. Therefore, when choosing kvass in the store, be sure to pay attention to the composition and shelf life – more useful is the one produced by fermentation.

It is best to prepare kvass yourself. It is not as difficult as it may seem.

Homemade kvass from northern berries

You will need:

  • water – 2 liters;
  • frozen cloudberries – 100 g;
  • frozen cranberries – 100 g;
  • dried rosehip – 50 g;
  • dried hawthorn – 50 g;
  • coconut sugar or honey – 100 g;
  • raisins – about 10 berries.

In a glass or ceramic bowl with a lid put all the berries, pour drinking water. Add sugar, close and put in a warm place for a few days. Every day open the lid and stir. After three days, strain the drink, pour it into a bottle and add raisins. Close and put in the refrigerator for another day.

Pineapple kvass (according to the recipe of chef Sergei Leonov)

You will need:

  • water – 1 liter;
  • cane sugar – 50 g;
  • peels, pineapple core.

In a bottle of water dissolve the sugar, add the cut peels and core. Close and leave at room temperature for a few days. Every day in the morning and evening open the bottle, duck the peels. On the third day strain the kvass, pour it into a bottle and leave it for another day. After that we put it in the refrigerator.

It is not recommended to drink more than 500 ml of kvass per day. In addition, the drink is not suitable for those who have cirrhosis of the liver, stomach problems, high blood pressure, kidney disease.
