The most important advantage of the 5:2 diet is that it has no strict restrictions and strict prohibitions compared to other protocols. Its main point: five days a week you eat as you want, and two days you limit your diet to 500 kcal per day. It may not lead to weight loss as quickly, but it won’t affect your health as drastically. It is better to lose weight calmly and smoothly without unnecessary stress, than to subject yourself to drastic changes, experiencing psychological stress.

In addition to the main one, there is one more rule. During the five days you should not eat everything in a row, you should not try to “eat ahead”. Watch your diet in any case, try to avoid fast food, fatty, sweet and floury food. Do not forget to eat about 400 grams of vegetables a day. And drink more water.

Mosley mentions that in the off-loading days, the calorie content of meals should not exceed 500 kcal for women and 600 kcal for men. Starving on these days is wrong. It is enough to eat healthy non-calorie food, for example, cottage cheese, eggs, vegetables and salads.
