“Forrest Gump.”

This Robert Zemeckis picture is rightly considered a classic of modern cinema, pop culture and even the sneaker world. If the first two points are more or less clear, then how “Forrest Gump” conquered snickerheads, not everyone knows. In one of the scenes Tom Hanks character receives a gift of new Nike Cortez running sneakers, which he considers with special love. Next, you can see the pair in different shots of the movie. This is considered to be one of the perfect examples of product placement in a movie. After the release of the movie, Nike Cortez sneakers in the classic colorway were only associated with Forrest, allowing Nike to leave its mark on pop culture and increase sales of the model.

Quentin Tarrantino also became a part of the sneaker world, more specifically his movie Kill Bill. The main character chose yellow Onitsuka Tai Chi sneakers (under the color of her costume) to fight with her opponents. After a chic scene of carnage, the model became one of the most popular among all pairs of the brand. Later, these sneakers were re-released and interpreted to create new models. “Back to the Future.”

Of course, this is the most famous example of sneakers appearing in a movie. In this movie, Marty McFly tried on Nike Air Mag sneakers with automatic lacing for the first time. Of course, this was an idea of the screenwriters that only recently materialized into a real pair of sneakers when designer Tinker Hatfield and his team used the idea of an electric mechanism to tighten the sneakers. It’s an unusual example of how a non-existent sneaker invented for a movie turned into a real model and became a relic. Now a 2016 pair (with automatic lacing) is worth over $20k. And that makes it an absolutely insane rarity.
