The picnic season is officially open! It’s time to cook a lot, deliciously and outdoors. But what exactly to please yourself, friends, family and loved ones? After all, all sorts of variants of kebab and other meat dishes cooked on coals are classics of the genre. And how to diversify the table in nature, what dishes to add to it?

Take note of simple and interesting recipes for dishes that can be quickly and easily prepared in the fresh air.

Elena: Tarhun – or tarragon, as it is also called – is not a very popular plant among Russians, I would even say, underestimated. It has a lot of useful properties that you will not find in all herbs. For example, it contains magnesium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and iodine. It is also rich in coumarins that kill viruses and bacteria, flavonoids that improve the body’s metabolic processes, carotene that stimulates brain function, and essential oils that have a detox effect on the body.

Elena: The fact that canned food is unhealthy is nothing more than a myth. Today the production of such products is on a larger scale than it used to be, and it is really possible to find healthy dishes among the canned assortment. Canned fish is one such option. Tuna contains important elements for the body such as calcium, which strengthens bones, and magnesium, which energizes us. Tuna is rich in vitamin D, which the body needs to boost immunity and improve brain function.

While the coals are still hot: stewed mushrooms

The grill is still full of hot coals, but are you bored with meat dishes? Then cook mushrooms stewed in garlic sauce. Wash the mushrooms without cutting them, put them in a clean container. Then prepare the sauce: mix a couple of chopped garlic cloves with pepper, salt and olive oil. Add the sauce to the mushrooms, stir and leave under a lid for 10 minutes. If the mushrooms are large, cook them directly on skewers. Smaller mushrooms should be cooked on a grate.

Elena: It is believed that grilling is the most correct way to cook mushrooms. They contain important vitamins B and C, as well as iron, phosphorus, potassium and folic acid. Such a dish will calm the nervous system, improve the cardiovascular system, as well as strengthen bone tissue. By the way, mushrooms are completely free of cholesterol.

No dessert without dessert: baked apples with honey and date syrup

What about desserts? They too have a place at a picnic. And you can make the sweet part of the table healthy and delicious. Take seasonal apples, cut in half, remove the core, leaving a small hollow in each half of the apple. Place a teaspoon of honey or date syrup in the hollow. Carefully wrap each apple half in foil and bake in the remaining coals for about 15 minutes. A delicious dessert of baked apples is ready! And if you supplement it with a handful of walnuts (only if there are no allergic reactions), it will be even more savory.

Elena: Baked apples have a special value – they have a beneficial effect on the intestines and digestive organs, restore the body’s defenses, useful in inflammation of the gallbladder and pancreas. Moreover, baked apples are easier to digest, while not losing vitamins and useful substances when baked.

Tea with the family: no to bags, yes to spices

And, of course, make a flavorful tea. To the chosen variety (black or green) add a little cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Allow the drink to infuse for at least 10 minutes. In nature, there is no need to hurry, it is important to contemplate and enjoy. Leave the tea bags for the hustle and bustle of the city and office routine. And enjoy a cup of tea under the crackling logs and pleasant music.

Elena: Tea with spices is a real boon for those who are health-conscious. It is a natural “antiseptic” that improves digestion, relieves colds and various pains (including toothaches), has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract and lowers blood pressure.
