Lifehacks from that will help you pass the obstacle race distance without major losses and with a great mood

On May 26 and 27, Moscow will host a new stage of an exciting series of races with challenges as part of the fitness festival “Reebok. Become a man”. Traditionally, the central part of the event will be a fascinating obstacle race. Participants of the team start will face a completely unpredictable course and tests of endurance, strength, agility and teamwork.

The list of tests is traditionally kept secret and becomes known only on the eve of the competition.

But before you challenge yourself and test the strength of your team, learn 5 lifehacks from fitness guru Valeria Guznenkova.

Ahead of the festival, we met with Lera at The Base space in Krylatskoe to find out what will help you get through the uphill run and what exercises to include in your warm-up if you’re only a couple days away from the start. Although we sincerely believe that you, our dear readers, have not put off the preparation in a long box, and will go to the start at the peak of your form.

Lifehack 1. Pump up your endurance

Valeria Guzenkova: To go the distance with a smile, you need endurance. It’s important to realize that the gym is not that effective in terms of developing this quality, especially if you compare it to the usual functional training on the street. So while you still have the opportunity, do at least one non-indoor workout.

Lifehack 2. Alternate between exercise and running

Try alternating sets of exercises and running. This will essentially be a small imitation of the start itself. Plus, going back to point 1, this will help pump up your endurance. If you want to develop this indicator in the future, try this format of training: run – exercise – run – exercise and so on.

Lifehack 3. Distribute your strength

In my last startup team, there were people who only trained in the gym and there were people who just ran. Accordingly, those who run forward, try to drag everyone on themselves, the whole rope, which the team is holding on to. Accordingly, by the exercises they are insanely tired not because they were running, but because they were running and dragging the whole team behind them.

Lifehack 4. Work as a team

Try to keep a common pace. Ideally, before the competition, practice together at least once, because then you will have at least an idea of what each team member is ready for.

My team and I have been going (laughs) to practice together for two weeks now.

Lifehack 5. Choose comfortable sneakers

Sneakers are the most important part of your outfit! The weather is unpredictable and if the rain catches you by surprise mid-distance and you’re wearing gym sneakers, everything will start to slip. This is very dangerous and can lead to serious injuries. For a race, you need to choose sneakers with good tread.

Tomorrow we will show you 3 sets of exercises that you can include in your warm-up or do as preparation the day before the start. Don’t miss out!
