The benefits and harms of lemonade

Maria Kombarova

“Natural lemonade, made from fresh fruits and berries, helps to maintain hydration of the body. This is especially important in hot weather or after physical activity.”

It is a source of vitamins and micronutrients and antioxidants. Exactly what nutrients will be in the drink depends on its composition.

Natural lemonade contains vitamin C, which helps strengthen the immune system. Also, thanks to the sugar content, it quickly replenishes the body’s energy reserves.

However, a large amount of sugar can lead to excess calorie intake and weight gain. The high acid and sugar content in lemonade contributes to tooth decay and also causes discomfort to people with hypersensitive teeth.

In people with symptoms of gastric dyspepsia, rapid consumption of a cold drink (especially in large quantities) can cause gastrointestinal discomfort.

How often can I drink lemonade?

The frequency of drinking natural lemonade depends on individual needs and the norm of daily caloric intake of a person.

The best substitute for lemonade will be ordinary pure water. If you want to somehow diversify the drink, you can flavor it, that is, add lemon, mint, ginger, cucumber, berries and other ingredients.
