Colorful Run 2024 in Moscow: date, registration, route, distances

The colorful race is one of the most colorful fan-runs of the summer. It is also the only start of the Running Community where timing chips are not used. Yes, the result is not important, because smiles, good mood and new experience are more valuable than any records.

Instead of competing for time, you can compete in creativity: come to the start in interesting and unusual costumes. Remember that summer is the time of bright impressions, so be sure to add as many of them as possible to your piggy bank.

During this time the race has changed, the number of participants has increased several times, but the main thing is that it has gone beyond a sporting event. Today it is a holiday filled with sincere live emotions, smiles and laughter. It is an easy way to fall in love with running. Participants go to the start, knowing that each new kilometer will be even brighter, and the impressions from the race will be unforgettable, because running can be different, and at the Colorful Run it is only about joy”.

History of the race

The first Colorful Run started on August 25, 2013. Even then the venue was the territory of the Olympic complex “Luzhniki”. 1704 people registered for the first start. The race was held in support of Natalia Vodianova’s top model Naked Hearts Foundation: part of the start fee was allocated for the development of the Naked Hearts Family Support Center in Nizhny Novgorod.

In 2014, we started the tradition of holding the race in the first month of summer. In the same year, the Colorful Children’s Run was held, where children from 7 to 12 years old could take part. The distance was 1 km. Participation in the race was free of charge for young athletes.

In 2018, for the only time in history, the start and finish were moved to the Megasport sports palace, and the route ran along Khodynsky Boulevard. In 2020 and 2021, the event was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The colorful race – 2024 will be the 10th in history. Last year, 4687 people applied for participation, and we will learn the statistics of this start very soon.

Date and time

The 2024 Colorful Run will take place on Sunday, June 9.

And while you’re circling that day on your calendar, we’ll tell you more about the time:

8:00 – opening of the starting camp, start of locker rooms and lockers;
10:00 – start of the race;
11:00 – awarding of winners and medalists;
11:30 – final part of the event.

Due to reaching the limit on the number of participants, registration is already closed. But if you managed to get into the ranks of the lucky ones, you need to get a start package. You can do this on two days:

June 7 from 15:00 to 20:00;
June 8 from 11:00 to 18:00.

To get it you need to show your ID card, medical certificate and parental permission (if the participant is between 14 and 17 years old).

Route

The race takes place on the territory of “Luzhniki”. The 5 km route covers the Alley of Glory and the Luzhnetskaya embankment.

Despite the short distance, this run will definitely be remembered, because traditionally the whole route is divided into several color zones. In each of them participants are sprinkled with bright dry colors: yellow, orange, crimson and blue. They are made of rice starch, which makes them harmless, and they can be easily washed off from the skin and clothes with the help of special means.

How it goes

The main goal of the Running Community is to involve people in a healthy lifestyle, including through the creation of different formats of running competitions: from speed starts to marathons. A colorful race is another way to diversify the sports history of each athlete with live emotions, smiles and laughter.

There are no timing chips or time limits, so you can enjoy the run and fun to the fullest. As part of the race, the organizers traditionally hold a contest for the best costume among the participants. The winners receive a memorable gift. That’s why in different years you could meet anyone at the start: from heroes of movies and comics to mythical characters and even unicorns and dinosaurs.

To take part in the contest for the best costume, before the start you need to come to the finisher’s bell and register with the volunteers. They will record your start number and contact phone number, as well as take a photo of your outfit. The organizers will select the top 10 most unusual ones, which will be voted for in the official Telegram channel of the Running Community. Three winners will receive a memorable gift from the organizers.

This race has no medals, instead each runner gets a collector’s badge. The results are recorded only for the first three men and women, they will participate in the awarding and will receive cups, gifts from partners and cash rewards.

Of course, the brightest part of the race is a colorful fireworks display. It traditionally takes place after the awarding ceremony: thousands of participants simultaneously toss pre-prepared dry paint into the air, and the organizers make the riot of color even bigger: an additional wave of colorful fireworks is launched from the stage.
