How many calories can you burn while tubing?

オーディオ・バージョン

It’s a lot of fun to ride a bungy, but going up a hill can be a full-blown workout.

The long winter months are no reason to become a homebody. Along with the snow comes the season of outdoor activities. If you are looking for a thrill, but are not ready to go skiing or snowboarding, tubing is your choice. It’s not just a child’s play, but a real aerobic workout that will make you sweat a lot. We found out how many calories a fun winter activity can burn.

I love different winter activities. After tubing I always feel like after a good workout.

How many calories does this activity burn and which muscles are loaded?

Riding on snow tubing (tubing, bagels) on snowy slopes is loved not only by children, but also by adults. But do not be skeptical about winter fun – it will give a head start to any other kind of activity. Without special efforts, you can burn as many calories as, for example, during cardio training. If you walk up a mountain, you spend about 400-600 kcal per hour. These figures depend on the intensity of physical activity, age and body weight. It is possible to refuse the elevators and drag a cotton candy behind you – in this case, the effect will be even greater.

Lavigating on a snowy mountain is not so easy – lazily skating will not work. When going down on a tubing you balance your body to the right and left and thus load different muscles. You work stabilizer muscles, arms, back and stomach. But getting down is one thing, you have to get back up. Climbing up the mountain gives the main load to the muscles. Once you’ve gone down the mountain, you’ll want to try it again, and for that you’ll have to climb a hill. And the bigger it is, the more effort it takes. Riding on bagels is also a great aerobic exercise and training for the cardiovascular system. Even the fear before the first descent releases adrenaline and makes your heart beat faster. And the higher the heart rate, the greater the calorie expenditure.

Valeria: You can feel almost all muscles, including deep muscles that are not used in normal walking. And when climbing the slide, the legs work – it’s a good workout for the front and back muscles of the hips and calves. It also improves your sense of balance, coordination and burns about 600 kcal per hour. If you skate for two hours a day, you can lose up to 8 kg a month. Plus during winter fun produces endorphins, which give a good mood.

How exactly does snow tubing help to lose weight?

Snow gives you an additional load. Climbing a snowy mountain is more difficult than on a hard surface. Snow gives additional resistance – it is harder to walk on deep snowdrifts. And it takes a lot of effort not to roll back down the mountain. Add to this an impromptu game of snowballs or molding a snowman – and you will burn about 150 kcal in half an hour.

Winter clothes increase the load. Down jackets add weight (if you weigh yourself naked, you’ll know what we mean) – think of it as weight training. Warm clothes also keep you warm, thus making you sweat a lot. It’s like wrapping yourself in foil, which creates a sauna effect. Plus the cold makes your body use more energy, which means you burn calories faster.

Going downhill and uphill strengthens your muscles. Snow tubing also involves strength training. Climbing uphill engages your leg muscles and gluteal muscles. And if you drag up a bagel, in which someone sits, then the muscles of the arms are included in the work. In addition, the cyclical movement of the descent – one way and then the other – improves coordination. Steering the bagel strengthens your chest, arms and back muscles.
