Oleg: In our country this kind of tourism is absolutely not widespread, because most people are sure that it is very expensive and problematic. In fact, every second car, especially in Moscow, costs about as much as a used motorhome. In Russia, there are many advantages of traveling by motorhome – for example, some moments in our country are not regulated by law, while in Europe there are many restrictions. You can safely spend the night on Tverskaya, in the center of Moscow, and tomorrow leave for the Black Sea or Lake Baikal. On the other hand, we do not have such a well-developed infrastructure of campsites where you can, for example, recharge your batteries.

Europe

Europe, according to Alexei, is something between Russia and America. There are a huge number of campsites there, and yet stopping outside and in nature is quite common. Everyone picks up their garbage, no one drains dirty water. Therefore, there you can comfortably move between campgrounds and stop in nature without any problems.

How to choose the right motorhome?

• As for America, there are only a few states where you can buy a car for a foreigner – Vermont, Alaska, California and Washington. In other states you cannot buy a car officially as a tourist.
• You must understand where you will put the motor home at the end of the trip. In America and Europe, you can’t just park it on the side of the road and abandon it. There are fines for this.

Before buying a motorhome, it is desirable to understand something about cars. Check the brakes, oil, antifreeze, so that the suspension does not knock, the engine runs smoothly, and the exhaust was in place.

The exterior frame of the motorhome is an equally important detail. Old motorhomes are mostly quite rotten, and even if it is not visible from the outside, it will show immediately when it rains, says Alexei. And the main thing to pay attention to is drips and the smell of dampness or mold. If the motor home with clear signs of leaks, covered with sealant, then, probably, it should be abandoned.

Examine the motorhome from the inside: plumbing, gas, toilets, air conditioning, outlets. In general, check the serviceability of everything you will be using. If, for example, gas is leaking somewhere, it’s not safe. If you have water leaking from somewhere, that’s not safe either.
