Princess Diana's sporty style. Fashion revolution

Sporty images of the princess repeated in the new Vogue Paris with Hailey Bieber.

Not so long ago on the pages of Vogue Paris magazine appeared photos of American model Hailey Bieber. Together with photographer Gregory Harris and the editor-in-chief of the Paris edition, they recreated a sporty image in the spirit of Princess Diana. On her Instagram, Hailey added that she has been inspired by Diana’s style for as long as she can remember.

Indeed, Lady Di became an inspiration not only for Justin Bieber’s wife, but also for many generations of people. Her sporty looks have revolutionized the entire Royal Family and millions of people in the UK. Let’s remember how tastefully and at the same time with modern comfort the princess dressed.

Diana’s love of comfortable sportswear probably intersected with her great love of tennis from her teenage years. Free from social activities, the princess enjoyed spending time on the court.

For training Lady Di chose a combination of bicycles, over-size sweatshirt, massive sneakers and elongated socks, which with a new force broke into the current fashion. Few people could think that the modern trend takes its roots not from the closets of American models, but from the last century, thanks to the excellent taste of a representative of an aristocratic family.

Moreover, being British, born in the family of John Spencer, Viscount Eltrop and a representative of the Spencer-Churchill branch of the family, Princess Diana did not hesitate to wear clothes with prints in the colors of the American flag.

However, for official events, Diana had a more classic sporty image – knitted cardigan and pleated mini-skirt. It was in these clothes she appeared on the tennis court at the Vanderbilt Club in London in 1988, where she played with eighteen-year-old Steffi Graf – the number one female player of the time.

However, the princess was not limited to her love of tennis, in the winter season, she favored skiing and, according to the memories of acquaintances, skied even better than her husband, Prince Charles. On the slope, she could be seen in an eye-catching red ski suit, with a warming headband.

Diana also instilled freedom in her choice of sportswear in her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Despite the high media attention to their growing up, their mother tried to keep the children away from the media and let them grow up as normal children. Contrary to the aristocratic style of the entire Royal Family, Lady Diana allowed the princes to wear jeans, athletic pants, and polo shirts.

Princess Diana’s death in 1997 was a great loss not only to her family, but to the entire British society. Her memory lives on in literature, music and cinema. And her unrivaled bold style still inspires people around the world.
