“Redingot for 40 thousand rubles”. How much does it cost to give a child to equestrian sport?

Equestrian sport is interesting, beautiful and good for both the physical and mental health of a child. Many people may be intimidated by the injury hazard, but as long as safety precautions are followed, there will be no problems.

We continue our text series on the price of children’s sports. Today, the mother of a young rider from Moscow shares her experience with us.

My daughter Ksenia is 15 years old and has been practicing equestrian sport for three years. We chose the section for many reasons. I ride horses myself, and I also studied to be a hippotherapist. I understand how the brain, balance, equilibrium system, and coordination work during riding. Plus it’s socialization, because you can learn a lot from horses. My daughter is thrilled with the lessons, she likes everything.

Equipment

Rider’s outfit can be both branded and ordinary. In the first case, the color scheme of the rider’s clothes and the ammunition of the horse will coincide. Additionally, there are rhinestones. It is beautiful, but also the price will be corresponding.

Previously, for training, we purchased breeches for 800 rubles, and in a specialized store we took for 8 thousand rubles. Now the cost is much higher. We got white-colored breeches for starts, they cost us a reasonable price.

Cavalleria Toscana offers cool children’s things that are twice as cheap as adults. For example, breeches for me can cost 37-40 thousand rubles, while my daughter can buy them for 18-20 thousand rubles.

We bought aredingot (a special jacket) for performances for 40 thousand rubles. We also need a white turtleneck under it, but we haven’t bought it yet. At training we use ordinary sweaters: one for 2 thousand rubles, another for 6 thousand.

The cheapest equestrian boots cost 30 thousand rubles. With a helmet, the situation is simpler, there are different options. We recently bought one for 18 thousand in an ordinary sports store. In a branded store it cost 100 thousand rubles. The functionality is the same, just a different company. Gloves are inexpensive, you can buy for 300 rubles.

Horse

We rent a horse twice a week. We pay 20,000 roubles a month. If we train four times, the cost, respectively, is 40 thousand. It’s profitable, because we already have all the equipment.

We don’t plan to buy our own horse until our daughter reaches a high level of skill. For now we can rent a horse.

Personal horses cost differently, the price depends on a large number of factors. Today, the price of a horse starts at 3 million rubles. The best option is 5-7 million.

Training

On average, one lesson with a trainer will cost 2 thousand rubles. All of our classes are individual, they take place twice a week. Sometimes we take four lessons.

Competitions

My daughter actively takes part in tournaments. As a rule, she goes once a month, but some people go more often. The main thing is to have time to work out the mistakes that the judges have noted. The starting fee costs on average 3 thousand rubles.

What does equestrian sport give to a child?

It strengthens physically: during lessons the load is distributed on muscles, while minimally affecting joints and bones. This is the prevention of arthritis and curvature of the spine. It also trains the vestibular apparatus.

As in any sport, it develops such qualities as determination, will to win, reaction speed, independence, responsibility and confidence.

It is also socialization. Socializing with animals always has a positive effect on children. The level of oxytocin is raised, cortisol is produced. Also, interaction with horses will develop compassion and learn to work in a team.
