How do Russians assess the state of their health?

Researchers compared the well-being of citizens now and five years ago.

The international analytical company Romir/GlobalNR surveyed residents of ten leading countries and found out how their well-being has changed over the past five years. Among the respondents were citizens from Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, China, Russia, USA, Thailand, South Korea and India. They were asked to compare the state of their health now and five years ago: whether it has improved, worsened or remained unchanged. Positive changes were noted by 23% of all respondents.

How did Russians assess their health now and five years ago?

The majority of compatriots (48%) noted deterioration in their condition. This is the highest indicator compared to respondents from other countries. Another 47% admitted that they did not feel any changes. And only 5% reported positive changes.

The leader in “improvement” among all countries was India. There 67% of respondents said that their state of health over the past five years has become better, and only 10% noticed deterioration.

How satisfied are Russians with their health?

In another survey, residents of the leading countries were asked to rate their health on a scale from “completely dissatisfied” to “completely satisfied”. The majority of Russians (68%) answered “neutral”, “somewhat satisfied” and “completely satisfied”. Nevertheless, it is in Russia that the largest percentage of respondents compared to other countries chose the options “completely dissatisfied” (5%) and “somewhat dissatisfied” (27%).

The leaders of the survey were India, Thailand and Brazil: in these countries 87%, 81% and 68% of respondents, respectively, positively assessed their health. The lowest level of satisfaction was shown by the survey among the residents of South Korea – 36%.

How did Russians assess the state of the Russian healthcare system?

Another survey assessed the state of national healthcare systems. In Russia, half of the respondents gave “completely negative” (9%) and “negative” (41%) assessments. The work of the medical system was assessed neutrally by 37%, positively by 12%, and very positively by 1%.

The most positive reviews were given by residents of Korea (86%), India (79%), Great Britain (73%) and Germany (71%). And the anti-leader of the rating was Brazil: more than half of respondents (67%) evaluated the health care system negatively.
