Now it’s your turn. Show what you’re capable of. Just overtake and be first. You walk up to the starting gate, snowboard nose against the wicket. You quell your pre-start jitters and focus. Your opponent on your left glances at you. But you’re already in the race. Only one will walk away a winner today. You grip the handrails tightly and wait for the countdown. Time stands still. Three, two, one… Let’s go!

A real challenge was thrown by MegaFon for all snowboarders at Quiksilver New Star Camp. One-on-one competition – a classic for those who like to race. Fair elimination races.

On April 2, Speedtest Race in the discipline “benched slalom” (parallel slalom) took place. What is the essence of the contest? Two riders enter a special starting gate to start at the same time. In front of them there are two identical tracks with set flags, arranged in parallel. After the start, the gate is lowered and snowboarders descend at speed. After passing all the flags, two more small jumps await the participants before the finish line. The one who comes in first wins.

This is a classic discipline that appeared as soon as snowboarding was invented – in the time of dinosaurs and cavemen. Back then, riders simply raced to speed by making up their own courses between trees and rocks. Quiksilver New Star Camp honors tradition and goes back to the roots of snowboarding. The contest aroused great interest among snowboarders, as it was open to all comers. In the men’s competition 64 people took part. There was a big fight. This is not just a race – it is a tribute to tradition and an opportunity to find out who is the fastest.

As many as 16 girls were not afraid to go out on the track and determine the strongest. And the spirit of competition among the ladies is not less developed. Real battles took place on the slope, where no one wanted to give in. Sharp turns, a lot of snow, bitterness of resentment and joy of victory – all this is Speedtest Race. Absolutely all participants and numerous spectators were satisfied with the contest and got a lot of bright emotions. The spectators tore off their voices, cheering for their favorites, and the athletes showed the maximum of their abilities.

The winners were welcomed and honored at the award ceremony. Among the girls the best was Skvitovic Krista – the fastest, most technical and of course graceful lady on snowboard. Among men the victory was celebrated by Maxim Suikov, who left no chance to his rivals. If you see these guys on the slope, try to catch up with them. Krista and Maxim received valuable gifts from MegaFon and the title of the fastest riders of Quiksilver New Star Camp.
