Time management techniques to help you not skip workouts

How to find time for training? How to properly distribute tasks during the day?

Let’s learn from the authors of time management books.

Summer has already passed, so it’s time to join a gym, even if you’ve never been there. Of course, you may again have excuses: “the kids went to school and after work I will do homework with them or because of the large number of “traffic jams” I again have no time”.

We are sure that with the right distribution of tasks you can manage absolutely everything, even time for rest will remain.

Do it tomorrow

It sounds strange, because since childhood we were taught not to put off for tomorrow everything that can be done today. But Mark Forster, the author of the book “Do it tomorrow”, can clearly argue with this statement.

From his point of view it is necessary to keep so-called “closed lists”, to which you can not add anything new, but from it you can cross off already completed. This list should motivate you, but not too much trouble.

There are also “open lists” to which you can add new tasks, it is gradually replenished and it contains complex tasks. Accordingly, if today you have some important thing to do, you should not be distracted from your current tasks – just postpone it to tomorrow.

Add a workout to your “closed list”, i.e. turn it into an important necessity, then if you cross it off your list today, you will be motivated to add it to your list again tomorrow.

The familiar “I don’t have time” sounds ridiculous. Imagine a fish complaining: “I have no water!” Time is the environment in which we live. It can’t be too much or too little. The whole question is exactly how you use time.

Time management by chronotype

Michael Breus, PhD and clinical psychologist, is convinced that no amount of time management techniques will help you if your chronotype is not taken into account. There are several of them.

“Bears.”

These people are always striving for their goal, there are about 50% of them on the planet. They wake up from 7:00 to 11:00. Then peak productivity until 18:00. But the time period from 18:00 to 22:00 should be devoted to sports. At the same time, the ideal time for going to bed is 23:00.

“Lions”

They include about 15% of the population. Can wake up at 5:30 without an alarm clock and feel great. Peak productivity is from 10:00 to 17:00. After work at any time between 17:00 and 21:30 you should do a workout, then you will get a boost of energy until the evening. At 10:30pm it’s worth heading to bed.

“Wolves”

If you hate mornings and alarm clocks, then you belong to 15-20% of the population. For you, the ideal morning is from 7:30am to 12:00am. Then until 8:00pm is peak productivity. And somewhere between 20:00 and 23:00, you can do sports. But it’s better for you to fall asleep before 00:00.

Eat a “frog.”

The author of the book “Time Management” Brian Tracy is convinced that everyone should start his morning with eating “frog”, that is, it is necessary to do first what you are most unpleasant. Once you accomplish something difficult, everything else will seem too easy for you to get frustrated.

Start your day with a workout – a run in the park or a trip to the nearest gym. This will definitely give you the energy and strength to keep going.

You should say to yourself, “My life is meaningful and important, and I value every minute of it and every hour of it. I will use these hours properly to get the most out of what I can in the time I have available to me.
