There is a belief that certain foods can only be eaten at certain times. Is it really so or is it just a prejudice? Let’s get to the bottom of it.

Oatmeal

Many people prefer to eat porridge in the morning. One of the most popular is considered oatmeal. Indeed, the benefits of daily consumption of oatmeal in the morning are undeniable. So, it contains a natural antioxidant that improves blood circulation, normalizes blood pressure. In addition, the substances in the composition help regulate the integrity of cells and fight inflammation. Oatmeal is especially useful for those diagnosed with diabetes – it is involved in maintaining normal blood sugar levels.

Why is it recommended to eat oatmeal in the morning and not in the evening? The fact is that it consists of carbohydrates for two thirds. During digestion, they are converted into glucose. If we choose porridge for breakfast and we have a whole day ahead of us, we can spend a lot of energy. In that case, this is where the glucose is used up. But the remaining will be converted into fatty acids and will go into fatty tissues. Therefore, if you eat oatmeal porridge at night, there is a risk of gaining extra pounds. If you want to eat before going to bed or late at night, it is better to take an apple, some low-fat cottage cheese or drink tea with honey.

Rice

The B vitamins in rice are known to have a positive effect on the nervous system and improve brain function. Rice is also good for blood pressure, heart and intestinal function. It removes toxins, salts and toxins from the body due to the large amount of antioxidants in the composition. Folic acid in rice also helps to strengthen muscles.

However, bananas are quite caloric. There are 100 kcal per 100 g of fruit. They also have sucrose in them, which raises blood sugar levels. If you eat bananas in the evening, it is better at least 40-50 minutes before bedtime. In addition, they can give a diuretic effect – another reason why you should not abuse them.

Tomatoes

The benefits of fresh tomatoes are explained by the content of iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, phosphorus, vitamins A, C and K. They also contain lipcolin – it can protect the body from cardiovascular disease and reduce the risk of cancer.

It is not recommended to consume tomatoes for people with gout, cholelithiasis, arthritis and kidney problems. Because of the diuretic effect, they should also not be consumed at night. If you eat a raw tomato before going to bed, the kidneys will start working actively, and this will adversely affect the quality of sleep.
