Will there be results if you do 200 push-ups every day? Honest challenge of a vorkauter

It’s been a few years now that Challenges have taken over the world. Some challenges entertain us, others motivate us to become better. Often athletes, and in our case a fitness blogger, set a goal and invite subscribers to fulfill them together. Some have promised to do jogging for a whole year, others do 100 pull-ups a day for a month. Our today’s hero is Anton Marchuk – a young athlete challenged himself to do 200 push-ups every day for a month. What came out of it? Now we will tell you.

How to make push-ups effective?

Push-ups are considered one of the simplest and most effective exercises for keeping the body in shape. You can perform the exercise in different ways: both on a special program, and daily for several approaches. Anton in his videos repeatedly demonstrates both methods.

You will not be able to progress if you are discouraged to perform exercises. You must set up for training as if you were a boxer, and this is your last fight. It shouldn’t be like, “Man, when is this workout going to end.” You’ve got to have crazy eyes, you’ve got to be on fire. It’s all about attitude.

What’s the right way to do a push-up?

Pelvic position

You have to feel your body. As it is in the plank – it should be flat and stretched. Any distortion will result in an incorrect load.

The 90 degree rule

You should lower yourself so that your arms in relation to your body are at 90 degrees. Keep in mind the accuracy of the exercise – keep your arms extended all the way down.

Head position

You should not twirl your head. Direct your gaze to the floor and concentrate.

Extended shoulders

If you fail in the shoulders, you will not have a proper load. Straighten up, lift your shoulders and extend them as far as they will go.

Pelvic position

Your back should be kept straight. Your tailbone should not live a separate life, push it up and then the right muscles will be in tension.

You can see detailed instructions in the video on Anton’s channel.

Goal – 200 reps per approach

Anton Marchuk does not perform the challenge for a tick. According to him, challenges are necessary to set new goals.

By the end of the month I have to do 200 push-ups in one approach. I realize that this is a long work on myself. For example, on the first day I did 200 reps in 15 minutes, and it took me about 13 approaches of 10-15 reps at a time. Who said it was going to be easy? In 30 days you need to maximize your skills, and in the process you need to become tougher and stronger.

Anton posted every training session on his Instagram. He did this solely so that people would not abandon the challenge halfway through and continue to do the exercise with him. Unfortunately, not all of them were saved in the tape. We suggest taking a look at one of them:

Marchuk draws attention to the fact that push-ups should be alternated with different types of push-ups. He realized that to perform 200 repetitions with the usual classic grip – it’s stupid. In no case can you do this, since the same muscles will simply be involved.

The fitness blogger also reminds how muscles grow in general: pumping, for example, biceps, we first of all destroy it. After that, microtraumas are formed, but when muscle fibers recover – they become wider. This is how the muscles are pumped up.

How does the selection of push-ups happen? If you believe the Ukrainian athlete, then intuitively. A simple example: you have 50 push-ups left to do, but you can’t do them with the classic grip. Firstly, it is wrong, as we wrote above, and secondly, these muscles are tense and there is no need to continue raping your body. It’s much easier to change your grip and finish these very repetitions.

Is there any benefit of push-ups?

Will not suffer health with such a serious load? Daily physical activity in the form of exercise is a good preventive measure for blood stasis and prevention of heart disease. But what to do if we are talking about gaining muscle mass?

Professional doctors unanimously say that the recovery of the very muscle fibers that Marchuk told us about, after an active workout occurs within 48 hours or more. What does that mean? We come to the fact that push-ups from the floor do not bring an increase in muscle mass. The human body simply does not have time to recover in such a short time. It is not recommended to perform serious loads every day, especially when it comes to 200 push-ups. You begin to destroy yourself.

With this thesis, our hero does not agree:

You can do 200 push-ups every morning – it’s 100%. I tested it on myself. Some people say that it is impossible to realize such a thing, they say that it destroys my body. How could I destroy myself? On the contrary, I practiced, did push-ups and grew in my performance. Not only that, during this time you improve your endurance.

Is there a result?

Anton tells us that he sees his chest has become much bigger. If before he could do two or three push-ups in a rack from the wall, now he can do 10 repetitions.

If we talk about push-ups, initially he could do only 25 reps with the usual classic grip per approach, now this number has grown to 100. Let me remind you that he did his first 200 push-ups in 13 approaches, and on the last day of the Challenge he completed the exercise in just four.

More on the numbers: 1st approach – 100 reps, one minute pause, second – 50 reps, 15 seconds rest, third and fourth approaches 25 reps each. 3-4 – 25 approaches.

Anton Marchuk confirmed that all this time he was training on other programs. It is not known whether push-ups only brought changes in the body of the young fitness blogger. In any case, the challenge was accomplished. But the goal was not reached – 200 repetitions at a time could not be performed.
