Self-isolation: why it’s important to stay at home now

The week of March 28 to April 5 was officially declared off due to the rapid spread of a new virus. Therefore, many workers either went on vacation or switched to telecommuting. However, some residents of the capital and other Russian cities did not take the government’s decision as a serious quarantine measure and on the first Saturday went for shashliks in local parks. Now such an act can be dangerous both for your health and for the condition of people around you. Together with LabRehab Recovery Center sports doctor Ibraim Chibichev, we tell you why it’s important to stay home and self-isolate in the coming days.

Why is the number of infected people in Russia rapidly increasing?

So far, more than 1,500 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Russia. Eight deaths have been registered. So far, these are not such frightening numbers for the majority of the population, so the attitude to the pandemic is now more mocking than serious.

All this history will lead to potentially dangerous people (as yet without debut symptoms of the disease) spreading the virus on a global scale, and quarantine measures will intensify.

Not so long ago, our state closed air service to all countries. Only outbound flights to the homeland from abroad have not been stopped. This indicates that only in recent days travelers who stayed abroad have arrived in Russia.

Returning citizens are supposed to observe a self-isolation regime, but in practice this is not the case. Most people, including celebrities and public figures, don’t do so because they don’t feel they need to. This results in the number of infected people progressively increasing due to recklessness.

At the moment, most hospitals in Moscow are preparing for a pandemic. New infectious disease buildings are being built and old ones are being remodeled. These are real combat readiness measures, not jokes. They are necessary in order to provide all the necessary help to those in need as quickly and efficiently as possible. But this is not enough …

As international practice has shown, even countries that have the highest level of health care and social protection cannot cope with the pandemic. All health workers are mobilized, working 24 hours a day to fight for every life. The means of treatment are simply not enough. All this disaster in the world is happening now because people have been negligent, looking only into their own backyard. Now the world is in such a state that forces each of us to rethink our approach to what is happening.

Alas, Russia is now at the stage of the beginning of the pandemic. We will see the main consequences in a few weeks, when the debut of the disease reaches its peak. Now more than ever it is important to realize that we must not remain indifferent and negligent, equal to the Italian scenario. Only tough measures can prevent the situation from getting worse. By addressing at least a small part of the audience, we can stop the spread of coronavirus infection and save many lives.

Take care.
