Breaking down the pros of the sport in terms of viewer interest.

It’s December, which means it’s time to get inspired by winter sports. But that’s not the only reason we decided to bring up hockey. There’s more. On November 23, the movie “Hockey Dads” was released. What’s the movie about?

In the story, the fathers of little hockey players decide to take part in an amateur tournament. This is necessary to save from demolition the only ice palace in the city, where their children are engaged. But there is a problem – the men have never stood on skates. The only joy is that they will have to play hockey, and with this sport in our country everything is fine.

Why do we love hockey so much and how did it become the most family-friendly sport? Let’s get to the bottom of it.

Hockey is one of the most popular sports both in terms of the game itself and in terms of viewership. Some of the best players that all hockey fans follow passionately are our compatriots: Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Valeri Nichushkin, Kirill Kaprizov, Artem Zub, Artemi Panarin and many others.

The level of Russian hockey is so high that it attracts entire families to the TV screens and stands. Even children adopt and support sports traditions with great pleasure.

Why do hockey games are attended by the whole family?

1. Independence from the weather

Games are played in indoor arenas. The temperature in the hockey stands is always stable – about +17 degrees. If you add some warm accessories in the form of a scarf and a cap with the logo of your favorite team, watching the match will be even more comfortable.

2. Behavioral Culture

At KHL, WHL, MHL and ZHL games, there are strict rules regarding matting, abusive language and naked bodies in the stands. Teams whose fans violate the regulations are punished with serious monetary fines and even disqualifications. Therefore, clubs pay a lot of attention to working with fans, holding talks with the leaders of movements. And the fans themselves try to follow the rules. No one wants the next matches to be held with empty stands.

3. Spectacular and dynamic game

The match consists of three periods of only 20 minutes of net time. In the pauses there is fun music and activities for children and adults. Before the start of the match the spectators can be shown a laser show, skaters’ performance, as well as enjoy celebrations with the participation of legendary hockey players of different eras.

4. Availability of breaks

There are pauses of 17 minutes between periods. During this time you can have a snack, buy hockey paraphernalia or take part in contests and drawings of souvenirs. And there is no need to worry about the food: in addition to the standard fries, hot dogs and sandwiches, you can find something healthier in the food areas. Some hockey arenas have full restaurants overlooking the ice.

5. Opportunity to vent your emotions

Even if you don’t support a particular team, it’s still hard to sit still during a hockey game. Watching the game is the best way to share a different range of emotions with each other, from excitement to euphoria!
