Coke, tofu, and 6 hours of running: How K-Pop stars keep their shape

Korean popular music, or simply K-Pop, has gained millions of fans around the world in just a few years and has become a large-scale industry. The competition is so high that a beautiful voice and good repertoire are not enough for a successful career.

Aydols must meet very specific Korean beauty standards. These include, among other things, a slim, even lean figure. In pursuit of perfect looks, popular performers spend hours in gyms and follow strict diets.

We tell you about the most unusual diet rules that help K-Pop stars maintain a slim figure.

Why imitating K-Pop stars is dangerous for your health

Almost every idol has their own nutrition secrets, which they are happy to share with their fans. However, most weight loss recipes of Korean celebrities are based on the principle of minimizing calories. And some diets look really extreme.

Experts warn that blindly imitating idols and striving to look like skinny K-Pop stars can lead to negative health consequences. Severe dietary restrictions can lead to exhaustion of the body, provoke eating disorders, including anorexia. Teenagers should be especially attentive to calorie reduction, and they are the target audience of this music industry.

Diet to exhaustion

The most popular Korean group is undoubtedly the boyband BTS. They hold the leadership not only in their native country, but also in the whole world. The lead singer of the group Park Chimin admits that he easily gains weight, so he often turns to diets. The singer’s diet at this time consists of fish, seafood, ginger shavings, cucumbers and cabbage, and the total number of calories does not exceed a thousand per day.

The artist does not hide that often because of the restrictions he lacks energy for rehearsals and dance training. There were cases when he fell on the floor right during the classes from exhaustion. However, this approach allows you to lose about 7 pounds within a week.

Nothing but tofu

For a long time, 2AM star Lee Changmin was out of the trend and weighed over 100 kilograms. However, his desire to fit in with his peers has forced him to take a serious look at himself. The idol admitted that a strict diet and sports helped him lose weight. According to the singer, a day he ate no more than two packages of tofu cheese and ran for six hours.

Eating once a day

One meal a day is also a common weight loss method among Korean stars. It can hardly be called proper and effective. However, Brown Eyed Girls’ Sung Gaein and Sistar’s Soyu claim that it’s the one meal a day diet that helps them stay petite.

Interestingly, the portion size and the food itself are not limited in any way: you can eat anything and as much as you want.

Apple, potatoes and protein shake

One of South Korea’s most popular pop divas, Ai Yoo, also keeps a close eye on calories. She starts each day with one apple, eats sweet potatoes for lunch, and drinks a protein shake in the evening. Fans wonder how with such a diet the singer manages to find strength for dancing, filming music videos and concerts.

Rabbit food

Vegetable diets are also popular among K-Pop stars. The participant of the project Sistar Dasom lost 7 kilograms thanks to this method. The girl ate exclusively cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots and fruits. In a day such food gave her only 290 kcal. Also in her menu was brown rice and organic bread.

Diet with cola

The essence of this method is three meals a day. Moreover, the set of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is the same – a piece of bread, two boiled eggs and a glass of diet cola. The energy value of such a menu is small – only 650 kcal. Although this diet seems strange, many Korean performers and their fans liked it.
