Easy relaxing meditation in 8 minutes. Works even for those who have never meditated before

Meditation for those who have never tried it

A short practice to help manage anxiety and calm the mind.

Anxiety tends to appear completely suddenly and at the most inopportune moment. Concentrate on anything is not possible, negative thoughts so and climb into your head, and the word “calm down” on the part of relatives or colleagues is perceived as a mockery. If emotions are overflowing, a light meditation will help you to cope with them. Today we have prepared a practice for eight minutes, which will relieve tension and get rid of feelings of anxiety. If you’ve never tried meditation, do it now.

This is a practice I do almost every day, it’s called “The Breathing Room.” In this “room” you can relax, forget about your problems and calm down. The practice can be done at any time of the day and anywhere. The most important thing is that you feel it.

  • Sit comfortably on a sofa or a rug: you can sit in the Turkish style, in the lotus position or simply leaning against the wall or the back of the sofa. Keep your back straight. Place your hands on your knees or on your thighs.
  • Stretch your head to the ceiling, gently close your eyes as you exhale. Take several deep inhalations and exhalations: inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth.
  • Breathe evenly through the nose, put the tip of the tongue on the palate. Relax your face, the point between your eyebrows and your shoulders. Observe your breathing for a while.
  • Move your attention to your mind. Try not to evaluate the thoughts that arise in any way, watch them as if from the outside.
  • And now imagine a beautiful light that comes from the center of your body, it can be absolutely any color. The light begins to spread and grow in all directions. Observe this process.
  • Allow the light to grow to such a size that you feel it enveloping you. This is your “breathing room”, nothing will disturb you here. Let go of all thoughts and observe your every inhale and exhale.
  • Feel inner peace and harmony, being in this light “room”. Keeping this state, open your eyes quietly. Take a deep inhalation through the nose and exhalation through the mouth.
  • Stretch gently in different directions before ending the meditation.

The practice is over. See Elena’s detailed comments in the video.

A calm state of mind is essential to your well-being and control of your emotions. But we realize that meditative practice is not to everyone’s liking. In this article you will find some more calming activities that will help you achieve a sense of emotional balance.
