Iron Shuba Baby: why women’s triathlon is beautiful

Back in April, as part of our regular column #editorial_tries, we attended a triathlon training session at World Class Capital City fitness club. My coach and mentor at the first session was the amazing Victoria Shubina, the director of Triathlon, who has completed the Ironman distance five times. Then during our training Vika suggested me to become a part of the Iron Shuba Baby team, and after many months of thinking about it, I decided to prepare for my first distance in the most feminine and charming team of the capital. In this article I have prepared for you five theses on why women’s triathlon is beautiful, stylish and sporty interesting.

Triathlon is about health

At my first official training session in the Iron Shuba Baby team, our coach Victoria Shubina said: “Girls, just think about how beautiful and healthy you will be a year from now. The key word here is “healthy.” Of course, any regular sport will help you become better, your muscles stronger and your heart more enduring. But when it comes to such a discipline as triathlon, it is a great opportunity for harmonious development of all parameters at the same time. Just think about it, because triathlon is a large amount of diverse cardio (swimming, running, cycling), it is functional training, which improves your body from session to session, strengthens the muscular corset and makes the figure taut, yoga, which helps to achieve harmony with yourself, stretch muscles, increase flexibility of joints and relieve tension. It’s not just a gym, but an opportunity to go beyond and work out in nature or in a park near your home, incorporating cross-country running, open water swimming and a bike ride with friends into your regular weekend plan.

Race with yourself

There are tons of reasons to get out to the start line, which could easily mean not only a serious competition, but basically your first triathlon training session. Triathlon is the perfect sport for setting new goals and outrunning yourself on the course. Your first race is not one where it’s so important to set a new Olympic record, but one where you can prove to yourself that you can do even more. Imagine my surprise when, after swimming about 300m in the pool and cycling 14km, I realized that I had another 20 minutes on the treadmill waiting for me.

At the time, I thought I had no energy left for anything else. But that’s the advantage of triathlon training: you discover new limits, overcome yourself and thus show results you never thought you would see.

Triathlon is harmony

A triathlon race teaches you to distribute your strength correctly, to choose your comfortable pace not only on the distance, but also in life. One of the principles that lies at the heart of classical triathlon is to train on an increasing pace. That is, you can’t end the training session with a speed drop, you need to distribute yourself on the distance in such a way as to make the final spurt (even if it is the last 10 seconds on the track). Agree, the ability to distribute forces and time is very useful to everyone not only on the sports track, but also in ordinary life – in work, in business, in the family. Starting the morning cheerfully and ending the day on an even better note is one of the main skills that can be acquired in triathlon training.

Iron Shuba Baby is an author’s project of the World Class fitness club chain under the leadership of Victoria Shubina. It is not just a team of like-minded people who are preparing for their first triathlon start this October on the island of Sardinia, it is a lifestyle. Once you’ve been a part of ISB, skipping a training session for no good reason is not for you, but going out for a run for no apparent reason, just for yourself, is our way.

Faster, taller … more endurance.

Did you know that endurance is a quality that begins to actively develop in women after the age of 25? That’s why triathlon and sprint triathlon can rightfully be called a sport without age limits. In fact, under such circumstances in 40 you can easily give a head start on the distance to any teenager.

Women’s triathlon is beautiful

Every sport has its own accents. Each such accent and working out of certain muscle groups allows you to achieve results and seriously change the external outlines of your figure. The figure of amateur triathletes, looks very aesthetically pleasing. Firstly, the girls themselves are slim and moderately muscular. Secondly, thanks to swimming, girl triathletes are not as skinny as runners. But apart from the athletes’ figure, triathlon is aesthetically pleasing in everything else, from the beauty of the course to the colorful tight-fitting costumes. All in all, there’s a lot to see and a lot to please the eye!
