Mint is a popular spice used in many culinary dishes and is known for its refreshing taste and smell. It is generally considered safe to consume and does not cause any specific problems in men. Why then is it believed that it should not be eaten by them?

This opinion is widespread primarily because of the content of phytoestrogens in mint. These are substances of plant origin, which are similar in structure to estrogens – female sex hormones.

They are produced in the body of a man in acceptable average values. If their amount increases, reproductive disorders and changes in the hormonal background are possible.

However, in order to blame the mint, a man should drink at least five to seven mugs of mint tea daily. The use of the plant in reasonable quantities will not harm the average healthy man.

However, some people may be allergic to peppermint or may have a condition called menthol sensitivity, which can cause symptoms such as itching, redness or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat.

People with asthma or other respiratory conditions may also experience worsening symptoms when consuming the menthol found in peppermint.

In addition, there are some medications that may interact with the spice. Some sedative medications may have an increased sedative effect when taken together with the product.

Therefore, it is important for men taking any medications to consult their physician before consuming peppermint.
