Scientists from Tokyo have named kiwi the healthiest fruit. But not everyone can eat it

Kiwi, although exotic, but quite common and available fruit. Its homeland is China, hence its other name – Chinese gooseberry. At the beginning of the last century, the fruit was first brought to New Zealand. There it received a name, under which it later became known all over the world – they named the curiosity in honor of the unique New Zealand bird kiwi.

Like many fruits, this one is rich in useful substances and nutrients. And in a recent study, scientist Ike Arakelian of the University of Tokyo Medical Research Center Hospital named kiwi the healthiest fruit.

Hayk Arakelyan, professor of medicine, MD, PhD, devoted one of his articles to kiwi. According to the scientist, this fruit contains a lot of useful substances and a small number of calories. Thus, 1 g and 1 kcal kiwi has more useful vitamins and minerals than 27 other most popular fruits in the world.

Kiwi is a source of dietary fiber, folic acid, vitamins C and E, antioxidants and other beneficial substances. Two medium servings of kiwi contains as much potassium as one banana, but fewer calories. Therefore, the fruit is a great choice for seniors, as potassium supports cardiovascular and bone health, and plays an important role in muscle function and digestion.

In addition, 100g of kiwi contains more than 20mg of magnesium. It supports muscular and nervous system health, normalizes heartbeat, supports the immune system and strengthens bones.

Regulates cholesterol levels

Antioxidants contained in kiwi provide prevention of cardiovascular diseases. So, 2-3 fruits a day is enough to reduce the risk of clogging of arteries and blood vessels.

Normalizes sleep

Kiwi improves the quality of sleep in adults. It is believed that this is due to the antioxidants and serotonin contained in it.

What can be dangerous kiwi?

Svetlana: Kiwi is a rich source of simple sugar, fructose. Fructose is even more dangerous than glucose. It doesn’t need the hormone insulin to digest. And its excess directly affects the liver and can be deposited in the subcutaneous fat.

Who should not eat kiwi?

Refuse from the fruit is worth it if you have:

  • peptic ulcer disease;
