“Transformers” star Mark Wahlberg suddenly went vegan due to health concerns

Mark Wahlberg is one of the most colorful movie stars at the moment. Somebody probably remembers him from the hip-hop group Marky Mark, which was very popular in the 90s. But the world fame of the actor got, starring in Hollywood. He was a nominee for the Golden Globe and Oscar for his role in “The Departed”, played in “Transformers”, “Max Payne”, “Third Man Alive”, and produced such cult series as “Underground Empire” and “Beautiful People”.

Wahlberg has always been in perfect physical shape. At the same time, he did not hide that sometimes adores junk food and in general can eat up to eight times a day. And recently it became known that Mark became a vegan. What pushed him to such a drastic change in life?

Problems with the stomach

One would assume that the actor is just experimenting with his body during the virus epidemic while filming in the movie is suspended indefinitely. But in fact, Mark made the decision at the beginning of the year, before the global lockdown. And the reason is that he found problems with the stomach – a syndrome of increased intestinal permeability.

During the filming of one of the movies Wahlberg could eat two steaks in a day, and then refuel it with a portion of fish. And by the end of the shooting period health problems came out. The actor tried to sit on a diet, which consisted of taking bone broth, but it did not help much. That’s when Mark made the decision to go further and become a full-fledged vegan.

“Being vegan is great.”

On the YouTube channel of Men’s Health magazine, Mark was answering questions from subscribers, and one of them asked directly, “Bro, are you dieting?” The actor honestly said that diets in their purest form never worked for him. So he decided to try veganism. After three weeks of eating exclusively on plant-based fats, Wahlberg made a statement.

Those three weeks went just great. I have to tell you, I feel great. Being vegan is great.

Giving up meat is a plus for working out

Many of the actor’s fans have started to worry about his fitness, suggesting that Wahlberg’s mountain of muscles might disappear along with giving up meat. Last year, Mark showed subscribers his daily routine and workouts. Then it seemed that he was preparing to serve in the army as a super soldier, so dense was his schedule.

However, fans can not worry. It turned out that giving up meat is even a plus for training, because it promotes faster rehabilitation of the body and provokes less inflammation in the body. But just such things as French fries and in general all fried foods, greatly inhibit recovery.

Now the actor’s morning begins not with eggs with bacon and a sandwich with jam, but with vegetable pancakes and a green smoothie.

Wahlberg is co-owner of a burger joint. Doesn’t that conflict with being vegan?

Mark is indeed the co-owner of a fairly popular burger chain called Wahlburgers, which he opened with his brothers. That is, in fact, a family business, which would be difficult to give up simply because of the changed views on food. Wahlberg isn’t about to do that. What’s more, back in early 2018, vegan burgers appeared on the menu, so the Wahlberg brothers played it safe.

Customers often asked them to include vegan menu in the list of services offered, and the creators of the institution went in their favor. Everyone benefited, so even the tabloid press can’t accuse Mark of inconsistency.
